I think the time was mostly it... Bart suggested a while ago that the "Not so fast" group could run through 169, and the "fast" group could run through Jerome. Quite frankly, I'd probably go 169 anyway because the road quality isn't exactly excellent through the mountains before Jerome. It is indeed a great road and the scenery is excellent as you come over the top, but... I guess I never really heard a definitive answer as to whether or not we're headed through Jerome either (although I'd guess one was given ), but it does add a decent chunk of time to the ride... Probably 30 minutes longer than taking 169. |

We DID make the decision to take 169 a few months back when we were ironing out the route. Don did say at that time that the road was rough. Friday will be a 340 mile day with the chosen route, and time will be a factor. If a fast group wants to split and go that route, I don't see a problem, they will no doubt catch or beat the slow group to Payson... |

Carey, We need to remember that this ride is for our out of state friends. We can ride these roads any weekend we choose. They are here this one time, we need to show them as much as possible in as little time as possible. Get the picture? That is how the route was formed, to accomodate them, not us. We are just hosts showing our guest what we enjoy on a weekly basis. Shame we couldn't have thrown in South Mountain, eh? Maybe next year!!! |

Bill, Sorry so late just caught your post. We're leaving Yuma Saturday morning (tomorrow) around 0700 and are going to spend the morning in Penis shopping. We're renting a car and are expecting to head out of Phx around noon. If you are going up give us a call at 928-210-4518 cell. Bart and everyone up in Showlow, Looks like you guys are having a blast, or a Firebolt, or an S-1, he he he... Ride safe and I'll see you tomorrow night! Cheers! Well, I was lucky enough to get half of the first leg in...what a day! Great roads, great new friends, and a great ride. I'm packing my azz off today looking out at some gloomy clouds...I hope you guys are safe and dry up in the mountains! You should be since the weather magnet is at home. Hopefully I kept all this nasty weather down in Tucson. Good luck y'all and I can't wait for the pics and war stories! Tip a few back for me tonight! |

Well Darrell & I just made it home after a 26hr. drive. We dropped Brad (BluzM2 or is it S2 now?) off 200mi from home. He gets to fight a nice 25mph headwind all the way at 58deg. We had a great time (Alex, eat your heart out Bucko!) It was great meeting and riding with you guys. Hope we can do it again next year. |
