Anyone try a 190 tire on the rear of an XB yet? I've got an chance to pick up the Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro's at a great price but the deal is for 190 rears. I did a KV search, and opinions are mixed, with concerns for slowing down turn in and reducing contact patch...

I have not tried it yet but will probably next time around. Not sure if you will actually be able to tell the difference. I know I can't. I have 190 on my FZ1 and 180 on the XB and I could not tell you the difference. Next time I buy tires I will probably put 190 on just so I can carry the same tire for both bikes.

by the way Hillsboro Motorsport has a sale on Metzler Sportec M3 for $219/set (front and back). Not sure if its a good tire but the price sounds great and I believe they were 180's. Especially since they mount for free if you buy tires from them.

Anyone interisted in a set of these for just a shade over $300? If the guys over at linesthemovie.com get six more sets sold they can do a bulk buy..

This is still for the 190 rear right? Not sure I'm willing to make that change yet on that nice of tire. I've made tire size changes before and have had good and bad experiences with them. When I had my ZX-6R, I upsized from a 160 rear to a 170 and liked how it slowed down the turn in on corners, but when I changed the rear from a 190 to a 180 on my ZX-7R, I didn't care for how it "quickened" the turn in. I actually changed that one back to a 190. I'm basically happy with how my Firebolt performs so I think I would like to stick with a 180 only in something softer.

I'm on the same page Jim, but very tempted. It's a great tire at a great price...

looks like they make three variations of the Supercorsa pros.

Ducati 1098 OEM
S1
S2

Which one is this for?

Hey Paul -

The tires are dragon supercorsa pros - SC2 rear and probably SC1 front (with some SC2 fronts thrown in as well).

Let me know how many you're thinking - I haven't heard back from gootmacher yet, so that's 4 sets up in the air.

Super soft. This would strictly be a track tire then? You will need a second set of rims.

No I understand. It's just to bad to see tires like that wear out in two months. Or at least for me they would.

Paul,

What did you decide with the tire thing? What about asking Latus what they would do for us on some kind of bulk tire purchase for PBR members? I'd love to get a spare set if wheels, but it's not in the budget right now. Still need to buy the leather pants to go with my coat or pick up an actual set of leathers just for track days. The one piece leathers are really uncomfortable when you're just standing around, but they do offer the best protection.

For this deal i needed to be 109 rear, and I was nervious about that. The guy that set it up was doing bulk purchases of 11 sets at a time. I suspect we could get a similar deal on 11 sets of Corsa III's with the 180 rear. There's still a chance to get in on the next buy of 11 on the 190 rear if you are inteisted.

I talked to Jim at D & S Cycle on t.v. hwy.(503-649-1926) and he'll get you Diablo corsa III 180-55-17, 120-70-17 for $306 a set mounted and balanced, wheels off the bike. These are great for the track and street and Tony has even had them out at PIR in the rain and they were great too. Also the stock Dunlops were good to me when I was out there with my buell, they heated up nicely and I liked them.

P.S.
Race tires suck in the least bit of rain, be careful!!!slippery when wet.
