AR...Cool toy! Amazing what a little turn an the pilot air screw will do! Tried to put the 14T front sprocket on , but it wouldn't fit with the stock retainer plate. The chain hits it??? Nevermind....Just read on TT that folks use a "c-clip" instead of the stock bolted-on plate. (Message edited by tank_bueller on February 23, 2008) |

I think I'm going to "lighten" the stock plate. I have the tools here to do it properly. Might as well put them to use.(pic of mentioned tool to come) |

Nuts, Did someone send you an email saying Armageddon is upon us . Whatcha gonna hunt with that assault rifle? Tank, What plate are you gonna lighten? You have a bad habit of putting out vague plans and then I have to lay here all night trying to figure them out . |

Torts, The stock front sprocket has a "plate" that bolts to it. It has matching splines to the sprocket, but when installed, it rotates on a groove cut in the shaft so that the bolt holes line up, and the plate acts as a retainer. It's actually a pretty good design, because the front sprocket is basically self-aligning on the shaft. It really only needs a c-clip for insurance. |

Tank, I'm not sure I'm understanding the benefit to this plate lightening. The XR has the same setup and I can tell ya from experience the bolts only need @ 10ft/lbs torque. I guess we just really need pics. NUTS Jackie, the AR is just another toy. No zealotous ideology necessary. I don't vote and this just allows me to hedge my bet. Issues like "gun control" I do have thoughts on. I'm thinking, "I like guns and I'm going to get some before I can't any more". Guess who got a free Buell neck gaiter without any issues? |

Charlie, like I said "no issues". Went for a frost ride this morning out to Shawsville for breakfast. Met some of the other TVR riders and guess what.... 4 more dualsporters. I heard mention of Hatfield McCoy several times. Can you say DUST CONVOY! |

WHEN man, WHEN?? I've read very encouraging and fun tales of the fueding neighbors. I don't think 2 days will be enough?? "Lightening" (used loosely here) is just another way to say "I'm going to cut the damn thing down so it fits". Gonna grab some grub, and then venture into the dungeon to Git-er-Dun.(I'll take some pics too) |

Here we go.... (you asked for it) All stock sprocket and plate
Stock sprocket, no plate. You can see the groove for the plate.
New 14T sprocket. The chain would ride on the plate.
14T on top of 15T. Not much difference, but enough.
The Tool!(small metal lathe)
Finally got the thing centered in the chuck. Ready to cut!
All cut out and cleaned up.
All put back together
Oops, almost forgot about this part!

Tank, now I see. Nice work on the lathe. Yer gonna have to go up on that rear and hope you have enough chain. With new sprockets front and rear finding a good deal on a new chain wouldn't be overkill. Put up a wanted ad on ADVrider. Some guy had 3 chains last week: $75 each. My friend just paid $120 for one yesterday!! When your in a pinch though. Hey, nice course ya have there. Little bit tight though. Are we all in agreement we should camp in April? NUTS |

Oh snap! I didn't know you had a lathe Tank! Multiple projects will be headed your way in the future my friend . Man if we get many more potential riders we ain't all gonna fit in the same campground! I don't know if I can tolerate more than 2 days of riding back to back but I guess I could stay a base and keep the fires from going out . I haven't even extended an invite over at Thumpertalk yet and wonder if I should now. Looks like we might have upwards of a dozen or so riders already! If all goes well on our April trip should we set a date for May? Shouldn't be too hot, school will still be in session and the traffic should be light. I can't remember if I posted the link to Indian Ridge so her it is http://www.trailsheaven.com/indianridge/ |

MMMHHH! McFlaky. Makes me think of biscuits slathered with butter. I'm hungry now. I didn't call back because I was busy trying to keep the testosterone filled, 13 year old boys in line. Arielles' party yesterday was quite nerve wracking. Trying to keep 4 boys in line around 7 girls was a real handful. Playing Twister the boys are trying to grope the girls. Watching scary movies they are trying to grope the girls. Pouring soda they are trying to grope the girls. Hormones running WILD I tell ya! It took every ounce of energy (and some Clonazepam) that me and the wife had to keep them under control. Thank the Lord that it is over for another year! |

Camping in April sounds like the plan. April 5-6 April 4-5. What's the plan for meeting-up? I'm leaving here Thurs after work and hitting a hotel for the night. Indian Ridge sounds like a plan for May. Any dates in mind yet? The Buell Inside pass at VIR is the 19th, but I don't think I'm going this time. Looks like it will be The Pines campground. Found out they do have a water spigot so you can have something to wipe off with. The campground is pretty close to New Castle so we can hit the little diner instead of having to take a bunch of food. http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/gwj/newcastle/maps/the_pin es.shtml |

The Pines looks good, as long as we can get a spot. Free real estate goes fast. Ya'll gonna ride up there?? I'll have the Barney trailer, so I could potentially camp anywhere. If Ya'll want to ride up, I could swing through the Noke' and throw the gear in the trailer, and bring it back for ya! I don't camp lite if I have to bring the trailer anyway. I could potentially strap the gas grill in there next to a cooler of steak(if I had to). |

Tank, Shouldn't be an issue getting a spot. Me and Nuts scouted it out in early September and there was a grand total of two people camping even though the weather was perfect and hunting season had opened. If you wanna bring the gas grill I will provide you a steak (cut of your choice) and me a chicken breast. I might even see if I can get ahold of some corn on the cob as well. Should make for a fine wrap up to the event. I'm gonna try to get me and Nuts a couple of Don Diego cigars so if you want in on that action let me know so you don't get left out. We are trailering up as well so I will have my big tent, queen size air matress and my little black and white tv. Nuts on the other hand will show up with a little tent that his feet sticks out of, two 32oz beers and a bag of granola. Then when the cooking starts he will crack open a beer, say "that smells good" and proceed to eat everything as you pull it off the grill whilst washing it down with his tasty beverage. By the time you get ready to eat you'll be lucky to have anything left for yourself. Trust me I've been there |

OK, so two coolers full of steak and chicken! I might just buy a smaller grill. I'll put it on the "list". Either way, I'll bring the grill. A good Cigar is always a plus. TV?? I thought Nuts would be enough entertainment on his own. If it gets dull, we could sabotage his kick stand, and he would never figure it out!! OH, and the Lathe is Pops, so I'm not sure how long it will be hanging around, even though it's 3-phase 220. Aint too many places to plug that in. It's one of three, but there still aint no milling machine! |

Nah man don't go out and buy a grill just for the trip. Maybe we can rig up a grate over the campfire and do some cooking that way. I'll put you on the list for a Diego. I'm hoping to get Churchill's but if not I am pretty sure I can get Robusto pretty easily. I gotta bring the tv since you and Nuts will go to bed at 8:00pm. If I'm lucky I'll be able to pick up either CBS or NBC so I can watch one of the late night talk shows. Sorry to hear trouble may still be brewing on the homefront. I had hoped everything had returned to normal. Got to be tough having something like that in your thoughts every day. |

She's Alive! Put the Clarke 4.7 gallon tank on without a hassle or leak. Choked it once and fire away. I rushed the warm up and stalled it though. Scarlett didn't want to fire after that until I gave 'er a little gas. Fired right back up under throttle and settled into a nice idle. She warms up faster and sounds throaty-er. Dunno why. Full test will be tomorrow to make sure she's running right at WFO. I do have high hopes! TurtleHugger failed to mention the blistering .223 action of yesterday. I was shooting Peeps(those pink and yellow easter candies) at 100 yards with open sights before he got there. Probably let loose 100 rounds and kept all the spent brass. Maybe I can find someone who wants it. NUTS |

Made out like a bandit for my birthday. Wife got me the skidplate and frame protectors (be here tomorrow), the kids paid for my tires and my moms sprung for the 3.9 Clarke tank (be here next week)! Gonna wait a week to get the tires installed in an effort to save the knobbies from the torture of road break-in miles. I am one blessed dude to have such a fine family that puts up with my craziness . |

Tank, Received and installed the balancing tool (TT sticker) ! I appreciate it greatly since it irks the crap outta me not to have both sides match. You have earned your cigar. Nuts on the other hand has not since he BAILED on coming over to help me install the frame guards and skid plate. I'm half tempted to let him slide though since I bail on him with more frequency than I would like . |

You are welcome my friend! Especially since without the "balancing" sticker, it looked like the bike might be taking lessons from Nuts bikes. Practicing the "layonitsside" trick. I wasn't going to say anything, but... I tried a log jump the other day. The most perfect plan can quickly go real bad. The approach was perfect, and the front wheel pop was perfect, and the back wheel caught perfectly. The landing was perfect too. The escape route, however, was not so great... BIG TREE....or at least that 4" tree was the biggest one I had ever seen. Missed it from sheer panic steer. Another BIG TREE...4". More panic steer(basically crashing the whole time). Managed to stop with one foot down, before I bashed a brand new hand guard into the next tree(16"). She's a handful, but she goes where I tell her to. Like Nuts said..."Looks a little tight". |

Hmmm, I'll have to look into that. Then I wouldn't need hard bags, I could just bungee everything to the cage! Wish my Dynojet kit would get here already. I need a reason to tear something apart. (though, that has never stopped me before) |
