I have never gotten a bird from any rider. Back when I had my Uly I was out for a ride while it was snowing, and I saw a BMW GS, he gave me a thumbs up. |

Maybe it's a regional thing...most of the time down here EVERYBODY on a bike waves back and forth with friendly gestures..no matter what they ride.. |

Spidey beat me to it. Few things in life will piss off a toughie-wanna-bee more than having a kiss blown his way. And then I am obliged to add:

Just feel sorry for them whilst riding my Buell. Then next time I'm out on the Shovel, simply ride up and park next to their billeted, blinged out azz. Be sure to let the Shovel idle <prolongedly> before shutting it down or before pulling off. Next time at a light, SMOKE their biyottch aiss!! (Message edited by 86129squids on April 03, 2009) |

"I have never gotten a bird from any rider." Ditto. The most rude thing that happens to me is that riders don't give back the "two finger hello", and most times its maybe because they're busy riding instead of socializing. I don't blame them. |

really, what do you care ? Not like you are inviting the guy over for drinks That peace sign you threw in some portions of the world means the same as the bird he threw. Yes in some countries it takes more than one finger to say F-U DAMHIK |

I'm walking down the sidewalk. Another guy is walking towards me. As we pass, I nod and say "Howdy." The other fella glares and screams "F**K YOU!!" In such a situation, my immediate thoughts aren't going to be "how should I respond to that?" They're going to be more along the lines of "that dude's insane--time to move on." It's the same on the road. A bizarre and hostile reply to a friendly gesture should be taken as a sign of mental illness. Do not engage. |

How should we handle stupid threads on BadWeB? While y'all ponder that, a perspective from someone who's been an avid rider for 44 years: I've NEVER seen a rider flip off another rider on the road, and I've ridden a lot of roads in my time. Ochoa, what prompted this thread? You make it sound like this happens to you all the time. Ferris |

Jerry, I've seen it. Never cool. Usually it's a guy or small group of wannabe outlaws (oakland, frisko, stockton, urban situations). I've hear of them knockin' guys off their bikes. I just give them the thumbs down and disappear. |

I've got the bar and shield patch sewn onto the bottom of my left sleve. it's upside down as a joke to the good ones. if anyone ever happens to get the bird they will see it upright. quite a few cages have seen my patch upright. |

Sometimes the bird is your friend. I was riding from Bozeman to Butte Montana one weekend in hopes of meeting up with my friend Mike. Just as I get into town I see Mike riding toward me heading out of town. I know he won't recognize me in my full face helmet so I flip him the bird and pull off to the side of the road. As Mike turns around and comes back to kick my ass I take off my helmet. Mike gets there just as I get my helmet off. I Start laughing when he recognizes me and I see the puzzled look on his face. He says "Why did you flip me the bird?" "Would you have stopped if I just waved?" "No I guess I wouldn't have. Good thinking. Let's go for a ride." G |

What would you do if a 4 year old whipped you the bird? Almost the same thing.

I've never seen any rider flip off another rider. But with the way some people are, it wouldn't surprise me if they did. |

In some Harley Cultures, "the bird" is/ is becoming an acceptable wave. There is a biker rag the calls it their "hello"... As for what I would do... Sometimes I wave, sometimes I don't. I could give two sh*ts. (Message edited by Paint shaker on April 03, 2009) |

LOL I just remembered, someone flipped me off at Buell's Homecoming last year. Not a rider, a cager. I went after her, pulled up right next to her and said "what's your problem?" She stuttered a bit, "uh...uh...those things are dangerous." I said "thanks for the tip" and rode off. The bird must be a new way of saying be careful. |

"What would you do if a 4 year old whipped you the bird? Almost the same thing. " Well, situational awareness is everything. In this case, two sets of shades says just keep riding and don't take any chances; this dude is BAD! |

I just feel sorry for them. 'Glad I'm not that poor sad b@stard'. That actually makes me grin with personal satisfaction knowing I have it so good and am not a complete dickwad like finger boy. |

>>>You're sure welcome to come join us Careful what you ask for . . . . I passed Fancy Gap on my last trip that way and got a hankerin' to see more . . . keep those challenges in check cause you ain't THAT far from me anymore . . . . . I suppose the older we get the less we're concerned about that . . . . someone flips me the bird, I'd just be frickin' thrilled he/she was going the other way. We ain't getting any younger (Mr. Buell logged another big year this week) and I'm having more fun riding than I ever have. |

Careful what you ask for... Yeah, I know, I still have the scars from FBRAT... Git yer butt down here on the Uly one of these days-weeks-months. Me 'n D haven't even come close to bagging all the cool riding there is to be had thisaway, but we know a local road or two that'll put the lean angle capabuellities of your new motor to good use. PS: Happy Birthday Erik! |
