Hey whats up all. I have an 03 XB-9R and im having some clutch problems. When I pull the clutch lever in and bump it down into 1st sometimes the bike jumps foward and sometimes it doesnt. Ive also noticed that on the times it doesn't jump foward if i rev the motor to 2500k or better it starts to pull the bike foward. Ive put a new cable on and adjusted it quite a few times but it does the same thing so its not an adjustment issue. Ive taken the 3 bolt side cover off and adjusted the screw for the clutch numerous times and that doesnt seem to help either. Ive also changed the oil and nothing there either. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? Do i need to replace the clutch plates or springs? Any info. or help would be appriciated. Thanks. |

Not sure, But have ya checked the Lip on the outer primary where the ramp and balls set up?? I have seen this Lip break away and that was the cause of Da Evil... |

It sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging when you pull the lever. I would suspect an adjustment issue or possibly a warped clutch plate. How much are you turning the clutch adjustment screw? Does it happen when the bike is cold and at operating temp? |

The lip on 1 of the pieces that hold the ramp and balls together is a little rough where the angled part is cut, looks like its worn or possibly broke away, im gonna take it back apart and look again. Im turning the adjustment screw like the manual states, until it bottoms out lightly then 1/4 turn in the opposite direction. It happens all the time, doesnt seem like temp. makes a difference. |
