Nah, it's probably right at it's peak with that set up.

I would buy the 07 airbox and try it. If you don't like the results, you can sell it here. Someone will want it.

+1 to Ft_bstrd

There were a lot of testimonials on previous threads stating the 07 air box cover made a difference. More openings seems to makes sense. l have all the mods you listed and the 07 air box cover. The thing is definitely quicker then before. The cover was less than $40, BTW.

Good luck.

Yep, Mr. Goat, but it's a bitch adding those pieces back in if you don't like the result.

Personally I like the Dremel. I think the hole saw is a bit tacky. I took some idea from the 07 air box and spent the better half of a friday night into saturday morning doing this

The end result was a much louder intake and maybe a bit smoother in low rpm.
I like it, and the fact that its visible through the outer airbox cover is a big plus

Did about the same on my 03 9r's setup. It is louder, in a real good way, and it seems to pull harder as well.

I did mine yesterday on my 06 9sx and what a difference in sound and it feels like it's got a little more bottom end. Can't wait to get my drummer and race ECM this winter to finisher her off.

I put the '07 airbox (from American Sportbike) and an '07 ECM (which I scored for $1 + $5 shipping on ebay ;) on my '06 XB12Ss. The bike definitely runs better and there's not a lot of intake noise. I understand that Buell worked hard to get airflow up without increased intake noise, so if you want to keep the quieter factory tone, pop over to American Sportbike and order the '07 cover. If you want the extra noise, get a Dremel and go wild.

You guys are hard of hearing if you think there is no difference in intake roar from one of these bikes with an open airbox, even the factory versions.

I agree Starter. The intake honk is MUCH louder! I like it.

The howl from the intake matches the howl inside my helmet! : D
