SUS Viscosity, is that a bad number ??

Oil was changed before last winter storage, sat 3-4 months before the spring.

This shows that the oil dropped from a 50 weight to a 40 weight in 2000 miles. This is usually attributed to "shearing" (the oil molecules being broken apart by parts in the engine like the rotor in the oil pump). I wouldn't think this is any big deal; 40 weight is certainly sufficient to protect the engine. OTOH, you wouldn't expect synthetic to lose much viscosity at all in 2000 miles. A decent conventional 20W-50 oil should do that well.

Post it to the forum at www.bobistheoilguy.com if you REALLY want some in-depth analysis.
