So 2 weeks ago I finally picked up my new XB12stt at Paradise HD and Buell here in Oregon. 1500 miles later I am in awe of this machine. I mean, whenever I demoed Buells at dealerships they NEVER let me put it through the corners. This thing sticks to the rode like nothing I have ever ridden. It has handled single lane forest service roads with 2 inch step up and step downs in the corners with ease. Even with its full street tires it felt great when the roads turned to gravel. The solo seat has worked for me so far--because there is no step to it I could shift riding positions on the 350 mile days. I want to thank you Badwebbers for all the questions you have answered for me when I didn't even own a Buell. Part of the reason I bought this bike is this community.

Wow, when you take those number plates off the rear, it looks like a motorcycle!!!LOL!!! Actually, I LOVE the TT, demoed on in KC and am really wanting to buy on, probably have to wait until next year though. Unless this 08 model really does something for me... |

The number plates are cool if you customize them. I'd love to see a custom one on the street. If I had one this is what I would do.

I am not entirely opposed to moto styling on a streetbike, but the number plates really hide the Buell's back end. Personally I think that the bike looks best as naked as possible. Cutting off the rear fender (you guys notice that the holes are gone on the STT?) shows it off even better. I plan to do that this winter. |

Congratulations, Brady! I don't want to steal your thread, but I'm loving my STT for much of the same reasons as you are. This bike is amazing to me in how well it sticks to the corners. Any corners! Crappy city pavement that used to give me problems on my previous bikes doesn't even phase the STT. I've actually started going over rough stuff along my riding routes just to see if I can get the bike to get unsettled (a little). So far, it just sticks to the road. I LOVE IT! |

Love the gravel smiley. Should have been the "teaser" photo on the Buell website a week before the STT was released... (those of us that remember the adds from the old days would have gotten a kick out of it... long live the XFL? ) |

No, my bike is still stock. I've been thinking about doing something interesting with the number plates, but the White look has actually grown on me. I may just find some cool Buell logo stuff to put on there... George |

Brady- Glad to see we've got another Oregon XB rider! I looked your TT over a couple of times while at Paradise... sold on the white plastics for my XB9S. My bike's almost back together after a couple of projects... need to get together with the guys up in PDX for a group Buell ride soon. Mark Salem |

Cityxslicker, So just how hard do you ride off road? I know you have a reputation for being a dirty rider. After taking the pic below I road down that mess.
It had loose fist size rocks. I NEVER would have attempted it with the standard Lightning suspension. That said, it was pretty hairy and I don't know that I would do it again on my TT either. The extra suspension is very confidence inspiring. When I get up near 50 on gravel I am reminded that I have full street tires. I am sure the Ulysses would whip its ass off road, but I love being able to transition from sportbike performance on the road to feeling like I am riding an overgrown dirtbike off road. There are several roads that switch between pavement and gravel in the Mt Hood national forest and I am very happy with this bike for exploring. In town the other day I used the sidewalk in an alley to pass a car (who was going the wrong way) and when I hopped of the curb I expected to feel some air below me but the suspension tracked down to pull me to the road in perfect control. Again, I am curious as to what sort of stuff you like to ride. Brady |

That shot looks about my commute home, but not that I am climbing up the side of that shale, Hopdees are problematic depending upon the entry angle, and the bike is really too heavy for me to feel comfortable to get air on it. I am sure that I am already way outside my warranty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG76ftSFOcg Heres a vid of what I ride on a daily basis, I will turn down any dirt road to see where it takes me, I will avoid single track, but only because of past experiences of getting high centered. You should come ride at SportBike/DualSport NW. Its in your neck of the woods . email me for details if you are interested (great pics, I will have to come for a visit) |

Love my TT, too. Brought it from MD (awesome smooth roads everywhere) to my parents in Pittsburgh (pothole capital of the world) and will say I couldn't ride the VRod up there like I can the TT. Dirt and gravel roads, no problem. No longer do I take the truck to work cause it "might rain" ! Suspension soaks up any bumps the road might throw at you. And those 'Uly tires'... As far as the number plates, I took them off and thought the plastic fender in the rear looked cheap so on they went again. I think the whole look with the front white fork protectors looks trick and unique....maybe cause I ride dirt bikes, too. They stop a lot of "wet worm infested mud mist" from getting to my legs and back, too. Check out how dirty they get on the inside after a good dirty wet road ride. |
