two times now i've noticed oil on my muffler and found that my filter had vibrated loose. has anyone else run into this problem.

I haven't had or seen this before, but if mine ever came loose once, it would get safety wired from then on.

If you are hand tightening it on, it will come off. I wrench mine on.

What Ft_b said......you can't get your hand around it far enough to grip it as well as needed to tighten it. I put my band wrench on it and tighten 3/4 turn from when the gasket touches.

Make sure to clean the gasket surface well and put a film of oil on the rubber gasket before installing.

I like the KN filter w/safety wire hole. Never had one (any filter) come loose, but just like the peace of mind.Charlie

I found one so loose that it turned when I bumped it with my hand. Despite being that loose, it never leaked any oil.
