My new '07 XB9R was delivered on 3-7-07 and since then I have put 763 miles on her. This is my first Buell. Some thoughts: *This bike is scary fun. Now I know torque is what one needs on the street. * Squids on Asian bikes laugh at me, fellas on Ducs, BMW's and Guzzis ask how I like her. Hmmm. * Build quality seems to be quite good. Love the suspension. Love the gauge cluster. * Hate the "Made in China" cast into the wheels. That and the 2 inch thick paint on said wheels. * I may never be able to exploit the handling of my bike. * My bike is slower than most any 600cc supersport. And I could care less. * This bike has soul. From the engine vibes to the sound of the starter to the smell of the exhaust. * Water cooled bikes may be a permanent part of my past. * Pretty girls and their mothers both smile at me at stoplights.I am 40. Thank you Erik. * I can not believe I shift a HD derived engine at 6K+. I love this engine. * The trans is much better than I thought it would be, and getting better with some miles. * There is nothing better sounding than an American V-Twin on full boil. * I have lost 20 lbs and a jacket size since I got my 9R. Anyone looking for a size 48 Vanson? Almost new... * Aurora/Naperville IL may be home to just a single Buell. Have yet to see another... Ride safe- |

This is a common phenomena. The same things happened to me when I got my XB9s. You're not alone. |

Buells are definitely a different breed. Actually had a guy riding an HD tell me he liked my bike. A cousin to HD. |

4cammer, Congratulations, you've caught the disease and I'm not aware of a cure. Take the bike to the track and raise your 'suffering' to a whole new level.......you'll quickly find that those 600 supersports (and just about everything else) will become a distant memory (on the twisty bits at least) |

I'm 31 and agree with your observations. I could care less what the teen-early 20 year olds think about my bike. I've had R6s, CBRs, and the like when I was younger. The Buells are more mature bikes for mature enthusiasts who care less about popularity and more about appreciating a very nicely engineered motorcycle with soul. The XBs will look good 10 years from now while the current Gixxers will be a distant memory 2 years from now. Oh, I've had a couple HD dudes acknowledge my bike, but I could care less about those guys either. |

Im 24 and ride with a bunch of repli racers on a regular basis. They ribbed me a bit at first but all in good fun. But after I got the stock exhaust replaced and rode with them a while she has earned their respect. They all ask to ride it and the few that I have let ride it come back impressed. They still like thier stuff better but it takes some time to acclimate to a buell b4 you can really appruciate what its good at, goin down the street n turnin around aint gonna do it. But they have seen that the buell is capable of easily running with them on the fun roads and the ribbing has all but stopped, accept for the few who dont like the sound. I dont see how any1 can dislike that sound but to each his own i suppose. |

Yeah, I agree with all of you. You DONT buy a Buell thinking you are going to dragrace. I bought mine simply because it had the VTwin, looked AWSOME and has a very nice ride. She gets lots of stares, most everyone tries to catch up to me to see what I'm riding. They have a look to them. |

Sara just got a Scg (red). Now when we go someplace my big black Uly just sits there unnoticed, and folks come up and talk to here about her bike. when she was on her bright yellow f650BMW the Uly was always the star but no more. Perhaps I need to put some glitter on the Uly (or perhaps I will need to start washing it) to get the big lug from being a wallflower. |

Great observations! At 48k+ miles on an XB9R and 60+ years on the planet, I couldn't say it any better myself. BTW, I haven't found a 600 sport bike I can't beat across the intersection. Torque rules! |

at 26, i've had several bikes, but never an IL4. proud to be a senior member of the "young guys on buells" club. i love pullin' up to the local squid hangouts (read "gas station with big parkin' lot in a heavy traffic area") with my micron blaring. by the time i shut her down and get my helmet off, i've heard three people say "what the h*ll is that?!?!?" fill up with gas, talk to folks for a minute, then pull out on the back wheel, leaving them with the lovely smell of gasoline turning into noise and confused looks on their faces. i'll turn 10K on my '06 CityX in the next few weeks. i love my buell.
