Hows it going Trojan,
I guess the NO is on the tire choice and not the tire brand....

I thought many here have used the 190 and really never felt much difference in HAndling etc.. Just wanted a Fatter ass ...

Are you saying it affects handling really that much etc etc...???

190/50 or you have clearance problem's with rear hugger. I run a 190 and Hogs you have been asking this question for months. I find no real issue but thats me. The 180 does just fine.

Should slow down the roll rate. More so with the 50 than the 55. The tire has a flatter profile as well, so when on the edge of the 190, you'll have less rubber on the road.

The XB already seems to be a tad over steery. In order of difficulty, it's easiest to slide the rear, then a bit more difficult to slide both, then a bit more difficult to slide just the front.

That said... You would only change tire size based on what your needs are...

If your needs are to have a wider tire that looks cooler... go for it. If you're having trouble on the track mid-turn and are hanging off... it may help (you'd have to be going very fast in this case). If you're having trouble rolling fast enough between turns, it'll hurt. If you're not hanging off and you can get the rear to slide, I think it'll slide easier with the 190/50 so it probably isn't what you want.

Personally... I love the way the bike handles with the 180 so I'm not changing mine : ).

The 190 should produce an XB that handles more like they do with the D207's.

Hogs,
The reason I said NO so loudly was that, although I may have issues with some of Buells stock parts and principles, tyre size isn't one of them.
Bike & tyre manufacturers do a whole lot of testing miles to get to the product the we end up buying. Somethimes cost dictates a certain tyre and sometimes it just that the handling is better with a certain size tyre.
In the case of the XB it is most certainly the latter, and that smaller is better. In fact I have known some racers switch to a 170 rear, especially with wet weather tyres.

Changing tyre width/profile alters the whole chassis geometry in subtle ways that you won't notice to look at but will certainly feel when you start to get up to speed in the twisties.

I have changed just about everything on our buells over the years, but tyre size ain't one of them ;)

M1,

Mine came with the crappy D207's and then Switched to M1's. Now on Pilots with a 190 on the rear. It handles better then the M1's and the M1's were better then the 207's by a long shot. Not only will you have height clearance problem's you may have width problems some because the belt is close. The profile on my 190 pilot is as round as the M1's so the its not a flat tire in any case.

I liked my 207's in the beginning. After 2000 miles I needed a change. I got about 2700 miles on rear. I changed to Pilot Roads, I liked those tire a lot (180's).

I will be getting a new set soon. My BMW (R1200RT) runs the same tire dimensions as the Buell. Needless to say, it is much larger bike

I have no desire to change the size of my tires and agree that what the manufacturer recommended is probably the best choice other than brand of course. However, the capt. really kept me on this thread. Hysterical, and Marty Feldman in his profile to boot. ahhh I'm still laughin'.

If the manufacturer knows best always..... then someone really flopped when they put 207's on the XB's. One thing is for sure they do at times learn from us the consumer. I'm not saying I'm correct just saying My experience this far is no problem's.

You bet. I have to bring her in next week to get the fan checked out. I think that the bearings are shot. While it's there they will be putting on a set of corsa III's, should get it back by the 28th. I was talking to Ham71 earlier on the Hawks nest thread and it looks like we will be meeting up on the Sun the 29th Can't wait. I'm still runnin the dunlops and they are beginning to feel a little weird. Good time for a change. Glad all you guys made it back from Dragon in one piece.
