Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about putting a Kick Ash airbox on my Lightning but only if I can remove or purchase without the "X" on it. Does anyone know if the plastic "X" can be removed from the CityX airbox, or can be ordered without the "X" on it? Any help would be appreciated.

The "X" can be removed with a heat gun. If you get one and remove the "X", I would be interested in purchasing the "X" from you.

So I'm guessing you can't buy the cover with out the "X"?

I love the X. I have to have a tank bag most of the time to carry my stuff and it
ROCKS for keeping the bag stable and preventing damage to the airbox cover.

Thanks again to Al at American Sport Bike for hooking me up with one from a
broken airbox cover in his shop : )

I could be totally wrong about this, but I asked my dealer about the X. He said they get them as a package (cityx airbox, and then the X), but they are the ones that apply it.

I was a little surprised when he said that. I have had many offers for my X, so I figured if it was separate it should be able to be ordered separately. But obviously not.
There is obviously a demand for these things.

You could buy an S airbox cover without the X. And for whatever reason you can't buy the X separate. I've tried through Dave in the past and have been searching for a loose X ever since. If you want to sell it, I'll pay top dollar as long as it's reasonably less than just buying a city X airbox cover. It is flat black, right?

I took the X off mine and you can still see the residue or what not from where it was. I plan on wet sanding the inside and outside with some 600 and having them cleared inside and out. Actually some silver flames would look good with the clear blue behind them. Hmmm...

I have a blue airbox cover and my X fell off on its own. Now there's a hard residue in the shape of an "X" that doesn't peel off. Whatever they used to secure the X is pretty strong stuff.

I guess I got to get my butt in gear and finally make the rubber "X". The mold is already finished and I have the first trial batch of rubber to make them in hand....(checking to see if the rubber will be too hard/soft)

I have red, blue and black dye to color the clear rubber...(think translucent rubber X to match the translucent a/b covers)
