So I installed my Laminar lip on my cityx. I went for a freeway ride and noticed that it had placed the air flow directly on my helmet. Quite noisy indeed...

I pulled off to lower the lip a few inches to see if it helped, but it really didn't. I lowered it again, but the adhesive was giving out - I had to grab it at 70 to prevent it from flying off. Rode home with it stuffed in my super suit.

I know a few of you have this lip, is loud for you? I am only 5.10 so I don't think I am too short for it.

Mine is fine. Did they give you a second set of 3M fasteners?

"So I installed my Laminar lip on my cityx. I went for a freeway ride and noticed that it had placed the air flow directly on my helmet. Quite noisy indeed..."

I tried a LL on my V-rod (several years ago) and had the same problem, no matter where I placed it there was more buffeting than without it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the LL, it's got more to do with your shoulder and helmet height in relation to the windscreen position and angle.

As a matter of fact, with a new Shoei helmet, the ride on my V-rod was quieter with NO windscreen what so ever. There was more wind "blast" on my chest, but there was less "wind noise" in my helmet.

Very same is true between my XBS and my friend's Ducati ST3. I hear less wind noise riding my S than when riding his ST3, which has a BIG windscreen.

Go figure ???

Interesting. I have the LL on my XB12Ss and I love it. I don't notice any turbulent airflow at all. Click my name to your left to see what it looks like. Maybe on the XB12Ss it's farther away from me than it is on your XB9SX?

The seat's higher on the CityX, is it not? Add some clip-ons to lower your body's angle.

hmm. I have one on my SX too. But the first time I used it I was going on a 150 mi trip, one way so I used my Scorpion, which is really quit, then added earplugs, as opposed to my normal shielded open face helmet. The Scorpion with earplugs was too quiet. When I went back to my normal helmet it seemed to be noisier. I just though it had to do more with going from an ultra-quiet environment instead of the wind screen. I'll have pull the screen off and see. The lip does take some wind pressure off the chest. I wonder if Ulysess people have this issue?

I put the Laminar Lip on my XB9S.

Good (not great) wind protection with no buffeting to speak of.

Bubabuell,

I think you hit it on the nail. I had completely forgot about sx seat height.
It could be a combo of seat height, and airflow from the hand guards.

I will play with it a bit more (I have to get more fasteners first).
If it doesn't work, there will be a LL for sale cheap...

Do any of you have a pic of the Laminar lip installed on his CityX - I have a blue CityX and wanted to know what it looked like before ordering one of these. Especially with the clear lip on ??

Thanxs,

I have the laminar lip on my Ulysses. Installed it too high up first time and suffered a little buffeting. Lowered it a little with now problems now. Takes air off my chest/shoulder/upper arms and keeps my head in nice clean air.

Well I took a ~150 mile ride this evening. I left the lip in the top position. It did have a buffetting issues, unless I sat strait up. It doesn't seem to work well when I slouch down in the seat.

But the interesting thing was how well it worked as bug control. My helmet was covered with insects, but my aerostich was squeaky clean.

I plan tomorrow to lower it a couple of inches to if it helps. If it doesn't I think I would only use it on freeway jaunts were bugs are plentiful.

Downhilldanny, would a photo of a smoke shield on a kick ash city do?

Zero Gravity now have an extended screen available for the XBS models that is 4.5" taller than stock but roughly the same shape. Good value too : )

It looks good. Though it reminds me of a shriner.

Anyone else notice that the bike in the photo is really dirty. You would think since they are doing a photo shoot to sell their product, they might actually run a hose over the bike???

Now the big question is where can you buy this? I have looked and so far everyone says TBA.

If that's really dirty, my bike is a total mess!

Every time I take her out with the intention of cleaning her, I end up going for a ride instead. : )

I'm kinda liking that ZG screen.

We have one in stock in dark smoke with all the other colours available to order (max 2 weeks wait apparently).

This one is available right now in pre-preg CF.
