Last night at the bar, some drunk dirt tooth backed his truck into my bike, which took a hard spill onto a curb. Despite my crash pads, I have a pretty bad dent, crease, scrapes, in my frame. I can't imagine that there is any structural damage, and I don't think I'm going to shell out to buy a new frame. I was wondering if there is anybody who makes the carbon fiber frame covers that I have seen on some of the race bikes. I think that would be my best temporary option, and then maybe down the road replacing the frame, perhaps when it's time to rebuild the engine.

Any comments or suggestions?

I do not have collision insurance, and nobody was able to get the plate number for the truck that hit my bike.

What a bastard! I'm sure he was drunk and just wanted to get out of dodge so he didn't get a DUI! You should hang out at that bar more till you see a truck with damage that matches the impact to your bike!

Be careful with that dented frame. The cost of repair (to insurance) would most likely total your bike. The gas tank/frame is the most important part to your bikes structure. That is your structure there. Make sure there are no cracks along any welds and be careful!

The HD dealer saw a hairline scratch on my frame and would not touch the thing, not even to change the oil. I had insurance so had the frame replaced at a cost at about 3k.

I talked with relatives in the insurance biz for the inside scope. Many dealers will have nothing to do with your buell once any scratch is on the frame / gas tank due to liability. So to get around this loophole, one could have a custom paint job on the bike ( better be custom graphics, anything less will raise an eyebrow).

Then everyone is happy due to plausible denialability. This is good if don't plan to sell. If you plan to sell better tell the buyer to avoid a can or worms down the road.

Your mileage may vary.

It is just sitting on there so the fit isn't accurate but you get the idea of how it will look.
