hey, I removed the original beltguards a couple of 1000 miles ago and (touch wood) have had no negative effects. I HATED the way that guard looked and know that I am taking a risk with no guards at all. OK, so you can buy these "mini" guards like on PWNZOR's bike (in black plastic or polished). My question: would you go with both top and bottom? Where do you think the belt is subject to the most risk? thanks |

Bottom guard would be more important in my opinion as that seems the easiest area for rocks/debris to get in. |

My guards are stock size and shape for 2004, but in chrome. It's weird, the guards are chrome but the swingarm brace is polished. The heelguards are chrome but the rider peg mounts are polished. They are all factory parts. Seems like they would all be either polished OR chrome, not some of each..?? I'd be willing to part with my original guards but I don't know if the hole pattern is the same on newer bikes? I agree the lower one is probably more important. All I know for sure is I've never had a belt problem keeping them both installed. With the polished wheels it sort of blends together so doesn't look too bad I think. See this is where I get confused, my belt guards are chromed but when I see the part listed anywhere it says "polished". All these parts were described as "polished" when the heel guards and belt guards are clearly chrome plated. Also, before I polished my rear pulley, I had ordered the "diamond highlight" pulley from the parts catalog, not only was it for a 2003. but it was BLACK, with just some parts of the coloring rubbed off. It was horrible looking and wouldn't fit anyway so I had my stock pulley polished and I think it came out even better than the wheels. In life, not just with Buell but everywhere, I get a bit dismayed when an item in a catalog is represented as one thing, and when delivered it is discovered to be something else entirely. And then when you bring it to the attention of someone who should be in the know, they act dumb like they never saw anything like that before. WHAT IDIOT LOOKS AT A PIECE OF CHROME AND CALLS IT POLISHED ALUMINUM???? THEY ARE NOT EVEN THE SAME COLOR OR TEXTURE!!!! ARRGHGGGHHH!!!!!!! ok i'm done. Good luck finding your shiny bits.

Ah... IMO everyone is going with the all black theme ..... so since I don't want to be like the majority, I am rendering the bike how I see fit. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the anti-bling look, but just don't want to be with the masses. You'll see in a few weeks when I "release" pictures, then you can let me know what you think. |

That's one of the reasons my bike is still white! I also like the black monochrome look, but I like having something different. |

For what it's worth, I couldn't find a top gaurd on ebay.. which is where i bought the bottom. So I tracked one down, with the help of Daves, and am attempting to purchase it from HD/Buell of Port Charlotte. They are unsure of their capability of shipping it to me ( a PO BOX routed through NY), and I will truly find out if I am capable of purchasing the part in a few hrs. |

krome suks! to much work for me. i agree with the chrome/polished look, you would THINK that the factory would make sure that when selling aftermarket parts they could get the finishes correct for all them to match. i work in the metals business and it erks me when finishes are all messed up! |

I think that you'll find that all the parts are indeed polished alloy. It's just dome parts come up better than others. Norrie. |

Matt, are you near a dealership that has the polished upper gaurds? Port Charlottle is going to rape me for shipping. Since they only do UPS from the shop, and UPS isn't able to ship to a PO BOX. They are going to charge me for the part (charge 1) for time used to send a person to the PO to weigh package (charge 2) charge me for the time for the person to return to work and seek my approval of the shipping charges (charge 3) then a return trip to actually ship the item (charge 4) then the actual shipment of the item (charge 5). That is complete BS. Anyways.. if anyone's local dealership has the upper polished guards and is kind enough to purchase and ship to me USPS Priority, then I will gladly paypal you the expenses. |

Brineusaf, I have no idea if any of the local dealers has it. I will be near Quaid HD/Buell tomorrow, I'll give them a call and see if they can track one down. I'll be in the truck all day nowhere near a computer till I get home about this time tomorrow night. Off to bed, long day of chaining down oversized equipment and chp escorts tomorrow. One way or the other, if it's not too far away I don't mind taking it to the post office for you. My bike is up on blocks right now for the near term future so I'll have to take the car. I would appreciate it, I have the bottom on the way, so having the top would complete the set; and prove that buying the bottom wasn't a waste. Thanks. |

Brine, First, thank you for your service to our country. I have the Polished Aluminum Upper Belt Guard, p/n 34004-04Y (actually, we have 4 of them! ) and I also live near a post office. If this is the one you're seeking, I would be happy to drop it off there to be shipped to your P.O. box (or A.P.O., if you prefer). Let me know if you'd like this. Pwnzor, ROFLMAO You said "See if Quaid has it". I am still laughing. They dont have freaking light bulbs or spark plugs for a Buell and if ever a dealer deserved to be a non Buell dealer it is Quaid. In fact I a on my way down there to pick up my wheel as not only did they not know the bearings were a free performance upgrade but they sent me back up the hill only to call and tell me they don't have a Buell bearing removal tool. They suck. |
