Let my daughter try riding my bike. The usual got eaten: outer turn signal lens, shift lever, L rider footpeg, clutch lever.

Question for Traction peg users, do Traction pegs survive a drop, and do they protect the shift lever?

I don't need the clutch lever ball and outer turn signal cover to ride away, but it's kinda hard to complete a long trip without the shift lever and L rider peg. TIA!

I recently picked up the traction ones from a local HD dealer, they don't seem to be made of the same cheap cast material the stock ones are. They seem to be much stronger and also have an extra "stem" that hangs off the bottom. Although not designed for it I think this could protect the shift lever, personally I don't care for the feel and have ordered the other model Al carries at American Sport Bike. If you want the traction ones let me know, I picked them up last week for $75 and maybe put 50 miles on them. PM me if you are interested, I was planning on putting them in the classifieds this weekend for $60 shipped.

The traction pegs still fold. Don't expect them to save the shift lever.

You need to change over to solid mount pegs for that.

You mean change the mounts plus the pegs to something else? Does it matter what else?

I've had traction pegs for several months now, they definitely hold up well in a tip-over as they are made of billet aluminum. They won't protect the shifter, per se, but if the bike doesn't go over quite as far as it does when the peg breaks, it might work out in the shifter's favor.
The traction pegs also reduce a bit of the vibration. I really like them and they are worth the money.

OK, got 'em, much stronger. Thinking about maybe cutting the shifter toe piece short, just sawing it off so it's only like 1" long.
