So I am at the bar in the bathroom and some runs into my bike!!! WTF!!! Do you not see something parked there! I didn't see it happen. By the time I get out of the bathroom the people who hit me are long gone and the staff has the bike on the stand. All in all the damage is minimal. Thank god for frame pucks and swing arm sliders!! They dameged my CRG clutch lever, left passenger foot peg, frame pucks, and DHM swing arm sliders - only $250 in damage. People let this be a warning. If you dont have pucks and sliders, get them. I couldn't imagine the damage if I didn't have those products. This was just a forcefull tip over. I am guessing a couple thousand bucks if I didn' have pucks or sliders. That was the best investment I have made in a while. The funny thing is that I just installed the sliders!

I cannot believe people.

How could you just drive away after hitting someone elses vehicle?

We come back to that fundamental lack of respect for other people that seems to be the norm these days I guess.

Anyone get a description of the vehicle and/or plate number?
Or would that be getting too involved for the bystanders?
Someone saw it happen or they wouldn't have known to pick your bike back up.

I think the concept of "innocent bystanders" needs to go away. If you let someone
else get away with a crime isn't that aiding the criminal? How innocent is that?

Leaving a bar...you think maybe they'd been drinking?

You call the cops to file an accident report, and document the damage, you think maybe he might think the same thing?

So they ran instead.

People suck. Especially drunk people.

Sorry about your bike.

Bill

Back in the day, my first bike... my first love really...

1976 Honda CB750F Supersport. Bought it from an old guy who loved it also. Perfect condition, etc etc.

I poured my love into it, customizing and detailing it. I worked at a tropical fish store, I was 20 years old, had the bike about 3 years by then.

One day while at work, Pete the Worm Man shows up in his class-b bobtail reefer truck and pulls in across the front of the store, stopping just in front of my bike, which was on the center stand. He unloads our orders from the rear of the truck, never once walking around the front of the vehicle. I suppose he "forgot" it was there, and when he pulled away from the store, he ran over the rear end of my bike. He stopped after he crushed the whole rear half, paused and then kept right on going. This is from eyewitness accounts, since I was in the back stocking the goddamn frozen worms he brought to us. HE DROVE AWAY AND NEVER CAME BACK WHILE I WORKED THERE. My boss refused to help me. The frozen worms always arrived when I wasn't there from that point on.

I never got any satisfaction from this situation. I "fixed" the bike myself by getting a new rear wheel, shocks, subframe, lights and chrome pieces. The part I couldn't replace was the swingarm. I searched high and low for that swingarm and could never get one. Then I had a buddy straighten it out as much as possible but it was never right.

Since that day I am ultra-paranoid about parking my bike anywhere that I can't see it. I've been told I'm no fun because I won't ride to lunch with people or "go to the store real quick for milk" on the bike. I'm not one of the guys you see at the local biker hang-out with his bike parked in a long row of bikes. I just can't do it, because the other thing people do is SIT on a bike that isn't theirs, leaning all their weight on the kickstand and twisting the throttle and pushing buttons and pulling levers.

ARRGGGHHH~!!!!!!!!!! I FEEL YOUR PAIN BROTHER

Pwnzor- you are right about that! Last weekend I rode up to Julian where there were hundreds of bikers if not more and sure enough when we finished eating and got back to the bikes I had a mutilated air box cover. Looked like someone with a big belly and an even bigger belt buckle sat down and got comfy. Ironically when I got home from the ride and put the stand down it broke. Thankfully I didn't get off the bike yet and was able to catch it. I could never imagine walking down the street and deciding to sit on someone's bike. 99% of people out there have no idea what respect is. I have the pucks already, I think sliders just got moved to the top of the list for add-ons.

People got nerve.....thats all I got to say. And no, the workers at the bar only got a partial plate number and a blurry description of the car at best. This happened at about 1am. Everybody involved wasn't at a 100% mental capacity. Since it was only throw away parts that are meant to get damaged when the bike falls, I decided to walk away and just handle this on my own. But, if I ever catch these mother f**kers, watch out. Remember that post on the board a few days ago about some dudes revenge on a cager? It will be like that, except there will be an ass beating involved as well.

Check this out.....

I just walked to the garage to get the morning after look at the bike. The frame is dented!!!!!!!!!!!! What I thought was just going to be a couple hundo to fix is now going to be 5 hundo for a deductable. Now I have to get police reports, deal with the insnsurance people, take it in for repair. F**K!!!!!!!!!! People are assholes!!

Pwnzor,

You have know idea if I was drinking or how much I had to drink. I understand where you am coming from, but dont pass judgement on people you don't know. Furthermore, this thread was intended for me and others to vent our frustrations to those who hit our bikes and cause damage - then leaving us with the bill. This thread wasn't intended to preach about the hazards of drinking and riding - end of story. If you want to comment about drinking and riding, start your own thread - dont do it in mine.

G4string, Sorry about your bike. It sucks. I had a similar incident a while back and caught the guy as he tried to leave. I ended up up $47.00 in damage and a 5,700 dollar check with no salvage title (due to a micro dent that is now under a puck.

Maybe you will get lucky! Where is the frame dented? If it is not to bad take the insurance cash, fill the dent and paint the frame.

look up bluebook on your bike and go get an estimate. You might end up with a lot of new bike toys for your trouble.

I never park my bike by the bar for that reason! Some A__FU__ ran into my ZX750 at the bar, took off, insurance totaled it. I wish I could find the bastard who did it and take out the damage on them! Had to vent, I feel ya and people suck that act like this!

If there was someone at the door I would bet management knew who did it but they are a regular customer. If it was a stranger they would have gotten you a plate number. That's my guess anyway. You may yet find out who did it just by sticking around for a while and looking at the bumpers of cars that park there.

Pwnnzor - sorry dude! It seemed you were passing judgement, but you weren't. My aopologies.

The frame is 1200.00. The shop rate at HD is 6 hours. Before misc fees and taxes it is 1560.00 for just the frame and labor. If I go the insurance route I will claim everything - the levers, footpeg, sliders. I imagine it will be in the 2000.00 range for repair.

However, I wanted to paint frame this winter. Should I repair the bike myself. Buell will sell me the frame - but it is a one for one exchange. They send you a stamped frame when they get your frame. It would hella easy to paint the frame and the rest of the stuff if I have the bike torn apart anyway. My deductable is 500.00. Is it worth an extra 700.00 to do it myself and not have the wraith of the insurance company on me for putting in a 2000.00 claim?

Good news......the insurance people state that as long as the police report state the accident was a hit and run, there are now adverse effects on my insurance premiums. I just hope they dont total the bike. Pwnzor, thanks for the reply. Once again, sorry for the harsh words. I understand everybody is here to help.

I don't understand people today. Everyone wants everything for nothing but when it comes time for them to pay up they high tail it out of there.

If I bumped some one's bike over I would damn well try to locate the owner & failing that I would most certainly leave my name & telephone number for the rider to find.

I'm sorry to hear about your bike G4string. It's great that it won't effect your insurance rate. Would have been better still if the squeemish, disrespecting bike killer would have stuck around & owned up.

But I guess that's too much to expect from people today.

everyone is frightened off an asswhupping, a shooting or fear of all fears .. litigation!

bring back the inquisition!

i blame th parents for not beating the kids enough & the schools for not enforcing discipline & the cops for chasing all the wrong guys & the church for failing to keep the faithful & humans for breeding & ...... ;P

seriously tho .. cops always hassle me for little things (taillight not working) yet let all these speeding, cellphoning, arrogant, oficeworking assheads (&soccer moms), psychotic, can't-drive-motherrapers run thru intersections & parking lots & all that crap w/out notice.

solo bike .. easy target. period.

now cagers resent us (well, some do) for us getting away w/ 5-7$ of gas where they pay 50-100$ for their trucks & SUVs ..

we get thru traffic easier & seem to enjoy our commutes ..

fack 'em if they lack the balls & liberation to join the family of biking.
