Well to refresh everyones memory I have an xb9s and I just put a new drummer and an open airbox kit I have a race ecm but when I got it all together I had the tps reset and the next day took it for a ride and it started sputtering bad after a while I down shifted and got the rpms up and it cleared up, actually ran better than ever. towards the end of the day it started up again and did not get better it got worse. when I got home I checked my plugs which were fine but figured I'd order some new 8mm wires and new plugs. Well those showed up today and that didn't help, I even tried cleaning the injecters but it still sputters it starts up fine but when the rpms go down it dies, the only way it stays running at all is the idle screw is all the way in but all I smell is gas like its running really rich. So I think I'm going to have to break down and take it to a dealership to figure this mess out either that or shoot myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did the plugs look rich?

Did you do the TPS reset or did the dealer reset it?

Have you pulled any codes off the ECM?

I worked on a xb9s once that had a similar problem but it was bone stock. The dealer could not fix it and neither could a nearby custom shop. The plugs were wet (rich). There were NO trouble codes. The problem was a small amount of water in the gas. I drained the tank and filled it up with fresh gas and it ran great. A second issue could be the TPS reset. I am eager to hear about the TPS reset. There have been some problems with dealer resets as well as DIY resets.

A dealer reset the tps and the gas is fresh so I'm probably going to take it back to the dealership and have him check it out. I just want so feed back from anyone who has had this problem so mabey I can sudgest some stuff to check out.

Just cause the dealer reset the tps DOESNOT mean its done right trust me.

If it ran fine before...think about it look at what has changes since before you did the mods...ecm...airbox.dealer..simple

sounds exactly like a bad ecm reset if it ran fine before.

The TPS reset issue is quite simple. Many HD techs are familiar with the Power Commander system and its reset is done when the throttle is at the normal idle position. The Buell system requires that the throttle be COMPLETELY closed prior to the reset and then you re-adjust the idle. If someone was to reset the TPS w/o closing the throttle completely then your bikes TPS is off by about 5-6.5 degrees of throttle and the engine will be significantly and noticeably fuel starved.

Thanks I'm taking back to the dealership tomorow and hes going to check it out and get it corected. I'll see what happens.
