So I looped it last night. Or at least I thought I was about to! I was drag racing a friend's camaro to see where he stands and we caught a light. I knew he was going to get the jump so I slipped the clutch faster than normal... Instant sky! I grabbed the clutch and hit the rear brake but it was going over. All these images of me wrecking are flying through my head but all of a sudden my feet are on the ground and I'm walking the bike a few feet into the intersection. Luckily it was late and there weren't any cars behind me. Got the bike stopped, set it back down and had to crank the starter for a few seconds before it fired. Then road home. My friend riding shotgun in the car said he looked over and saw my fron tire leaving view from the window lol.

DON"T CUT OFF YOUR FENDER!! It saved my ass. Only damage is to the rear parking lamp, it broke it off and ground the bottom of my license plate. Couldn't believe it! No structural damage, didn't bend the fender or anything. I was going to hack it off but after seeing this I'm leavin' it on! Just gonna paint it to match. I'll snap some pics here soon.

Been telling everybody that Buell designed these bikes to stunt.

Nasty, I've been there, but I DIDN'T have the "12 O'Clock bar" If you would like, I can send you the very back piece-the black peice that holds the light. It's yours if you'd like it, no charge, I'll even pay the shipping.

Cochise - Thank you very much for the offer but you can buy the whole assembly (backing plate, 4 bolts, lamp, cover) and I'm just going to have Dave add one to the order I placed. But you are too kind! Thanks.

And I'll shoot some pics of how effective the rear fender was at not damaging my bike. Afterwards I said to myself damn if I had been on a SS the fairings would have been f*&%ed. Go Buell!!

Nasty, actually it is good you said that, because I looked in all of my "take off" parts and the very back piece, minus the bracket/wiring stuff is gone. : O

Great story with an even better ending.

I never thought about chopping my strainer. I'm one of the weirdos that actually likes it. I find it amusing to learn how it can a save rider's butt.
Thanks for sharing. Where's the camera when you need it? : )
