I will be repainting the race fairings on my 03 XB9 and am undecided as to what color. I am leaning to black but would like to see a silver one. I saw a post a while back with a picture of a silver XB9 with the fairings but cannot find it now. Any thoughts or pix?
Thanks

Not the one you were looking for, but silver nonetheless.

Thanks Trojan.

Pcmodeler, that's the one I was thinking of. Still can't decide on black or silver though.

Nope. Someone elses race bike. The other side is actually red. The color is split down the middle with a white stripe. I had been thinking of painting mine a silver as well, but I think I have it narrowed down to:

2006 Mazda M3 Orange
2006 Mazda M3 Red
2005 Honda Civic Orange (which is a bit more bronze)
.....or something else......

I have heard two different stories about belt guards from two different very reputable sources. The first two belt failures had guards. I got tired of messing with the guards so poof they are gone.

I rode all winter, snow, some ice, red cinder and all kinds of goop. The roads where I live were pretty nasty all winter.

The guards are nice for keeping large objects from getting between the belt and pulley. They will not keep out the grit, sand and other junk from riding in bad weather though.

I rode all winter, snow, some ice, red cinder and all kinds of goop. The roads where I live stay pretty nasty for 3+ months a year.

I am pretty sure it is the road grime that was between the idler pulley and the belt that caused the damage. In fact you can see what looks like an aluminum sheen on the smooth side of the belt. I am looking forward to seeing if the bearing on the pulley is fried..................

The belt despite looking bad has not snapped in half yet so maybe I have been wrong and it is a great belt! In fact I will sell it and the 03 pulleys to anyone that wants them (LOL). I am getting new stuff from Al at American Sport Bike this afternoon and am looking forward to installing them. I am really missing riding more than 20 miles from home............

Been about three weeks of nervous now........

Rims are Japanese but I have lost the link to the web site I saw them on : (

Dual discs are Brembos and I think the whole front end is from a Ducati.

Here is the other side.

so, about the belt guards. I removed them from my 06 xb9sx because i like the way it looks more naked, but is this a bad idea? i was more worried about the belt actually "jumping" off than protecting it from road grime etc....anyone have any experience beyond whats posted here?

Don't worry about the belt jumping off. It isn't going anywhere, and if it was the guards wouldn't help anyway. They would just get shreded by the belt when it came off. They are on there to keep large objects from becoming wedged between the belt and the pulley and causing damage to the moving parts.

Yeah those wheels, and the pulley are very sweet pieces, but they were super pricey
if memory serves. I wonder what they weigh.
