Does that Firebolt in the commercial look a bit longer to you or is it just my imagination or wishful thinking: )

The low beam on Ulys and Rs remains lit when the high beam is on. For some quirky reason known only to God, Buell, and an unknown engineer, the is not the case with the Ss and Xs.

For what it's worth, I still don't by that the sound clip came from an XB9. If it did, it's been edited/manipulated way too much and has become embarrassing. I shared the clip with a few other riding buddies, they all think the sound came from an I4. If other riders think it came from an I4, what will John Q. Public think?

I'll have to hold mine at 6k RPMs for a bit of time, but I swear my race kitted 9 sounds very similar at high RPMs.

I was at the muffler shootout for a few hours and watched Craig's 9SX sit on the dyno with a stock muffler, and I can see that sound coming from that bike. Remember, sound is a dynamic event, so all of the surroundings affect what you hear. The sound you think your muffler makes is totally different from the sound the driver behind you hears. Depending on where they put the microphone, a good sound technician could get just about any sound he wanted to out of the stock XB9 muffler.

If you are questioning my last statement, let me give you some personal experience. I am a percussionist, and if you want an example, go to your local music store, hit any cymbal on the wall, and stick your ear really close to it. You will hear very low tones at the outer edge, and higher tones as you go toward the middle. The same goes for a muffler. It is a percussive sound, with no specific musical tone, but many tones and overtones combined to make a "sound". That "sound changes depending on where you are listening from.

Looks to me like they were riding in second gear and sped it up. That's why it sounds funny.

I agree with the sound possibly being a 9...but in the commercial, it is a red/amber 12 that is going by when you hear the sound, not a 9. But, "J.Q. Public" has no idea (for the most part) what a Buell sounds like or is for that matter...so the more publicity the better, i think the two headlight thing is like it is just to keep people from thinking "they used a bike with a headlight out"...

Geesh folks. That sound is an XB9 with a stock exhaust and an opened up intake (which is stock on 06 and up) shortly before it hits redline. I hear that sound every freaking morning on my way to work, and every night on my way home. At almost every intersection : )

It's an xb9 with a stock exhaust and an open intake approaching redline. Nothing more and nothing less.

The one Ulysses I saw in person had both lit. But from a manufacturing standpoint, it would make more sense if it shares the wiring harness from the S and X series given the component layouts are more similar.

I somehow feel cheated....That is NOT a Buell note. I'd say more of an I-4 around 600cc. Sorry Buell advertising, I'm not entertained.

I listen to it many, many times. Volume low, volume high, bass turned up, bass turned low, tried different speakers, no luck. I cannot get it to sound like any Buell I've ever heard. It sounds like an I4 with an aftermarket pipe. I showed the video to some other riders, they all ask why the Buell sounds like an I4. All the right people here are saying the sound did in fact come from Buell, but apparently it's so manipulated that no one I know can recognize it. It doesn't even sound like the other Buell commercials.

I hate to break it to you, but I can make my CityX with Race kit almost mimic the sound in the commercial.

Low RPMs and idle, my bike sounds like a quiet hog, up near the redline it approaches I4 sound with just a bit more meat

Shoot, after reading this thread yesterday, I paid attention to my stock 12 on the way home yesterday and I got to hammering on it pretty good, and dang if it didn't sound just like the sound clip in the commercial. Amazing that such an appalling I4 noise could come out of just a beautiful machine. I promptly returned home, parked it and hung a "for sale" sign on it.

I saw the commercial on TV just yesterday, and apparently there has been too much discussion about this particular sound clip, as it wasn't included! I was bummed.
