I noticed today that the low beam headlight lens on my 03 XB9S is seeming to be melting from the heat. about 2 sq.in. turned white in the center of the lens. The bulbs are the standard that come on the bike new. I never replaced them. Has anyone else had this happen? |

Have you been running with both bulbs on at the same time by chance? If not, what are the climatic conditions where you live? There has to be some type of offending variable. |

I never run with both bulbs on, I live in Pittsburgh, it gets hot in the summer, but not like the south or the southwest. |

Weird. I run with both lights on in Texas and have never had a problem. Keith |

I also live in PA and run with both on all the time as well. My bulbs are silverstars. To this point no indication of plastic breakdown due to heat. |

I had spiderwebs appear in my headlight lens. Cleaned them out and sprayed some windex in to clean them, mistake! As i started to wipe them the shiny/reflective material started to come off. Stopped and air dried. With silverstars still getting plenty of good light! |

i had higher wattage bulbs in and my lens started to melt, but only after i started taking the bike on three hour trips from ny to vt and vt to ma. i am hoping since switching to silverstars the problem will cease, but apparently it can happen with stock bulbs. |
