Hey, I have new tires on my XB, but I hear that the normal tire wear on these bikes is around 3000 miles before replacement time. Now I talk to a guy here at work that has a sportsster and he says he has over 15K miles on his OEM tires from his bike. Now I do know we have totally different bike, but what such the huge difference? is it the rubber? I mean I do not plan to carve corners or race. just normal cruising / riding. if i do that will my tires last way longer? Thanks for explaining this.

Different bikes Different rubber compound Depending on how aggressive you ride there are tires out there that will give better wear. But, you lose grip. To me tires are cheaper than trips to the hospital. I have Pilot Powers on my Mille R and they are wearing great after about 3500 miles and 3, 20 minute track sessions. They grip good enough for aggressive road riding. I'm going to put them on Kandie's XB9SL too |

this level of tire life is pretty much the same as other sports bikes -- while the XB and the SPorty came outa the same dealership, they have little in common -- Sporty rubber on your XB would put you on her noggin LONG before the XB stock rubber |

Mike, I am getting my tires replaced in a week, the stock ones need to be retired. I got 11,000 out of the D208's. Although Ive hit the canyons a few times, the side tread is fine, but from all of the freeway communting I have been doing I wore a flat ring into the rear. Like Dave said, riding style does play a role in your tire wear. As soon as I get home Ill post a pic |

11,000 out of a 208 You must have the throttle control of a god...Female, dainty, flower wearing, super prissy god...but still a god. All kidding aside, I think you have set a all time Dunlop record on a SportBike...have you been having trouble keeping up with the HD guys? |

I replaced the rear D207 with a D208 2 weeks ago at 2500 miles. There was no rubber left at the center. I just ride around town, no track, no burn-outs. |

I remember living in S FLA and tearing up my car tires. Probably the climate and from what I understand they use seashells in some of the road resurfacing. |

Zxzer, yes I know it sounds crazy, and I know I must sounfd like I ride like a wussy (thats a p ussy with a "w") but I dont. I do go to the canyons here, if it makes more sense, my old CBR F3 would eat the same tires in about 3 grand. Heres the pics as promised sincerely, THE THROTTLE GOD (((thunder clash)))

Now I talk to a guy here at work that has a sportsster and he says he has over 15K miles on his OEM tires from his bike Got 9k on my Sporty's front stock D402, and 15ish on the back. Been running Avon Venom-X's since, getting 20,000+ miles from both currently. I'm lucky to get 5k from D208's, or the Pirelli Diablos. I have a Diablo Strada on the rear of the XB. Not sure how long it will go. |

My stock 208 tires are at 4500 and the rear has a flat spot from the daily commute and is to the wear bar. Diablo Stradas going on at the 5K mark... |

dam 11000 miles on those 208 tires incredible. I have 7200 miles on my bike and I already went through 4 rear 208 tires. Burnouts, and too agressive of driving I guess. |
