I get all the torx out and now I can't find a way to pull the fan out. I really don't know how they get it in there. Any tips or tricks?

I have heard you either need to rotate the motor, or cut it some with the dremel.

You must remove the shock if you haven't already. If your trying to get off the headers then may I suggest rotating the motor. It's not hard just time consuming. Take it slow and go by the manual.

Please don't cut anything with the dremel.

The service manual says nothing about that. This makes me think bad thoughts about the design of this bike. It should just come off upwards. : (

All im trying to do is get to the O2 sensor. Shock is out now the fan is in the way.

What's it take to remove the fan to get to the O2 sensor? How is anyone doing this?

Isham, go by the manual. I replaced my O2 sensor with a Hi-Po one for the Power Commander. It takes patience and moving the fan around some so it finally comes out. It's a pain but it does come out as advertised.

is it a r or a s . unbolt the tail section take the bolt out of the top of the shock. make sure you support the bike with a jack then take the torx screws out it will take about a hour to do it

with fan removed use a 22mm crows foot tool to remove O2 sensor - disconnect sensor wire prior to removal -
Install O2 sensor : Ensure to use Never Seize Compound on the treads of the O2 sensor

Get a cheap crows foot from an auto store. Grind a bunch off of the sides so you have more than 1/100th of a rotation available. Remove fan (after damper removal). Use a 3" extension and a wobbly and both hands (all three if you've got them). Try not to scratch the frame. Good luck getting the new O2 threaded in a timely fashion and not cross threaded.

Or just rotate the damn motor... It's really easy. You don't need to dis-connect much. Loosen the coil and unplug stuff that looks like it might get tight as the top of the engine rotates forwards. Remove the velocity stack or it'll get smashed. Just loosen the clutch cable at the center adjuster and be sure to get it moved out from in front of the engine as it rotates down. It's really easy : ). It is time consuming, but it's easy : ).

I've done it both ways and the engine rotation way is easier : ).
