My wife for christmas got me the amber levers for my XB. I went to put them on and I noticed the brake lever was a decent amount lighter in color than the clutch. It looks as if the clutch lever had been coated 2 or 3 times more than the brake lever. Have others that got these levers noticed the same thing on theirs? The dealer has another set and theyre the same way. I am wondering if this is supposed to be this way. If so then Im gonna put them bad boys on and go, if not the factory needs to know. Input from you all will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

IMHO, they should be the same color. I would have sent mine back in a second if they were obviously mismatched.

I'm assuming that those levers should be the same color as the wheels. Here's my experience with painted items from Buell:

My dealer gouged my front wheel when changing my tires. I don't know how, but it happened. The salesman agreed to replace both my wheels based on the fact that if we replaced only the front, the paint may have come from a different lot and they wouldn't match. I was impressed by their willingness to do so. 3 weeks went by and they wheels finally came in, and the dealer called me so I could inspect them before they were intsalled. Again I was impressed. When I arrived they were still in the sealed cartons from the point of origin. We took them out and I was immediately shocked by the fact that they were both very different colors, and the paint had bubbles in it... all over the place, they looked horrible.

Long story short, he ended up paying for the damaged wheel to be polished out, and I paid for the back to be done, at a nice discount.

The moral of the story is don't accept anything less than perfect.

I am sorry to hear about you wheels. I am glad to hear they ended up ok in the end.
Im just wondeing if this is something they always did with the levers. For maybe a reason I dont know of. I am anxious to put them on if this is the norm. Thanks

Erik at the 20th anniversary in 2003 said that the amber wheels were a problem getting the same color consistantly but finally came to level where they were acceptable and consistant. I just bought the gold CRG levers for that very reason and knowing that the Anodizing would hold up better. And they are a perfect exact match to the wheels to boot. I'd send the levers back if it was me but thats your choice.

i saw those levers .. CA$115 for the pair . but a new front brake lever in alum is on CA$36 .. so for the paint & the less-stuff-on-it clutch thats an easily double cost for fack all!

sometimes its called *taking the * & shd be called as such. must be coz the motor company now owns so much buell .. they must think we are total retards .. no wonder u have to be a HD dealership to get buell (is this true?!).

crg look good, as do brembo .. maybe p/m make sportbike spec hand controls?

i have the painted heel gaurds and don't have any complaints. i know with cars ive been told that the first car off the line wont be the same color as the last one as far as shade. i would like to get the levers too. even on the site pic they look a little off. i would try to get them replaced too.
