First Buell. I like it, but once the engine comes up to operating temperature, the fan is ALWAYS on (and the high speed position to boot). Even on a cool morning ride, with no traffic, the fan just whirrs away. Dealer says it is "normal". Hmm... FYI, I have just completed my 1K service and added HD synthetic oil, and do not see much of a change. What's going to happen in the summer, in traffic!! Anybody shed some light? Thanks! |

As your engine beaks in it will run cooler and the fan will not run as much. I seem to remember it running much less around 5,000 miles. |

Sonny, I have an 06 12SS too, and the fan did the same thing...ran all the time. I'm in Tampa and got to break it in during the heat of August/Sept. I've just hit 1300 miles, also switched to syn. oil, and it actually seems to be coming on less finally. FWIW, it never overheated or anything during the hottest days. Should be fine. Good luck w/ the Long! TK |

I'm on a 2004 XB12R and my fan ran all the time for the first 3000 miles. I switched to Syn-3 and it tapered off steadily. Now it just comes on when its reallllly hot outside or when I shut the bike off it will run for about a minute or so. Don't worry. |
