Has anyone ever fitted Hot Grips to their Buell. Living in the UK and with Winter fast approaching I have recently aquired some Oxford Hot Grips.

The problem I have is that I have no Service Manual, the dealers are quoting 6 weeks delivery so need to get some info to assist with fitting.

Henrik did what I *think* was the "hot grips". They were the plain jane cheapie "wrap on" style and they worked quite satisfactorily.

These are replacement grips not wrap around ones, they replace the original grips.

I think I need to identify a switched live and also connect direct to battery

Thanks for the info so far, I have the grips, I need advice on wiring. E.G. do I need an Aux Relay etc

under your seat is a fuse block, couple little plastic tabs hold it down, release tabs, rotate fuse block, splice 16 guage wire carefully, (solder and tape well)into the orange/white wire attached to the accesory fuse.run this wire to the grip heater switch, use inline fuse holder if you wish.
i have been running the Kimpex brand heaters under the stock grips for 16000 miles. ( in Alaska) no problems. enjoy.

Kimpex was the brand I used. Works fine. The throttle side wiring sees some wear and tear due to the throttle rotation, and I currently need to re-solder the connection, but it's held up fine for 3 seasons of use prior to this, so I'm happy. The Dual Star is very similar, but refined compared to my old Kimpex set-up.

I did not use a relay when I wired up the heaters. Just ran a separate wire from the fuse block to a connection block I mounted under the dash behind the fairing. Also made up a local ground post there. Wired the heaters directly into that.

I'm a fan of the polly heater type element heaters, so you can use any grip you want and most never know it has them on the XB.

I have used and installed both types and I second the polly heater type, "Super Polly Heater" I think. Easier to install, should last longer - neither have worn out, and cheaper.
