Badwebbers,

Does anyone own the technoresearch scantool, how does it work. Is it good. I want to be able to do my own tps resets. Looks like the standard one is 195.00 Is the race ECM supported? Thanks!

Greg

Hey, Ky.

I was about to start a thread myself on the same subject, but you beat me to it. At minimum, I would like to do my own TPS resets. Also interested to learn what benefits there are from getting the ‘professional‘ versions. There seem to be a couple vendors for these types of products as well. Anyone have experience using more that one particular type? Can someone rate the pro’s/con’s of one versus the other? I don’t mind spending a some money on one of these products, but I don’t want to buy something and find out later that I should have spent a little more and gotten something better or more versatile.....

Thanks

i THINK the only difference between the 2 is that the pro model can do more than one type of bike.

I've been waiting to hear more about the "new product" that is supposed to crack the ECM and allow reprogramming. Anyone know if it's on the market yet?

There is a new product from Dimensione Sport called the 'Rapid bike'. It is an add-on ECM similar to a Power Commander that allows you to install a variety of fuelling and ignition maps or programme your own using a PC. It has been available in the car world for a while and now includes specific bike fitments including the Buell XB12. The module itself can be moved from bike to bike (even of different makes and configurations) so you just have to buy the bike specific wiring loom. Price in Europe for the complete kit is Euro170 (UKŁ121 US$212) for the wiring loom and Euro380 (UKŁ272 US$475) for the module itself. The complete kit lists at Euro550 (UKŁ393, US$687).

These are current prices as of yesterday from the manufacturer in Italy, although I notice that Technoresearch list the prices at considerably less (US$150 for the wiring and US$330 for the module). It may be worth checking the prices with them if/when you order, as the exchange rate may have changed since they listed the prices.

Kybueller... Very good product in my opinion used it to reset both stock and race ecm with no problems whatsoever. Have it insalled on my laptop, home pc and my pocket pc. works flawlessly on all of em. Directions are less than desireable but you can get help here if needed. The pro version does other bikes so if all you want is to do the XB series bike then the standard version will do just fine.

We'll be fitting one to our modified Uly in the next couple of weeks, but probably won't get to test it properly until November as the bike will be on show duty until then.
I spoke to the factory about this unit yesterday and it does sound very interesting. It plugs directly into the ECM, unlike the Techlusion or PCIII, and adjusts both fuelling and ignition timing. There are some ready made maps or you can 'do it yourself' with a laptop and the software provided. In the UK a team has used one so successfully on a CBR600RR in club racing that most of their competitors are now buying them. As soon as I have any more detail I'll post here of course : )

Well I will take the plunge this morning and get the technoresearch software I think. I hope I can count on those of you that have used this already for some help once I get it. Thanks for the info and if anyone else has any experience with the software, please post it.

Thanks
Greg
