How many XB's (total and by model type) have been sold to date? Is there a public resource for this information? It would be nice to see some metrics of how the market is broken up. Thanks in advance. |

We don't use metrics in this country. We use inches, pounds, and hours. |

Thanks, I had already looked at those numbers. That page shows that roughly 20k XB's have been sold to date. It would be great if we could find statistics on bikes as easily as we could for baseball players. |

It would be great if we could find statistics on bikes as easily as we could for baseball players. Well - if motorcycling were as boring as a baseball game with as much down-time during the game, we'd have more time for stats! (Message edited by slaughter on July 21, 2005) |

Damn-it Spatten1... Upon further inspection, you're absolutely right. We don't use the metric system here. Evidently Daves sent me a metric set of gages when I did my conversion. I only just now noticed the kpm written there. Now I'm really embarrassed. I've been talking all this $h1t about how fast my bike is. Now I realize that I'm about 1/3 slower than I was. That explains EVERYTHING. But as long as I don't switch my gages, mine's still the fastest.

Dago, That is why the Yugo was on your honking at you when you thought you were doing 100mph. I have an amp that goes to eleven, it's the loudest amp made. Everyone else's just goes to 10. |

MIC compiles sales numbers for all of the industry participants. They have all agreed to provide the information, which is where the statistics normally come from. Check out the Motorcycle Industry Council site, I'm not sure if the studies are pay-to-play or not. I do know that they are used by financial analysts for industry reports, as well as the OEMS. I doubt you can get model specific info, because the mfg.s like to keep that stuff on the QT. |
