had a fun ride, ran up to talkeetna for lunch saturday ( about 300 miles from homer,AK) we were pretty wet, but the rain quit while we ate, so i thought we might run north a while, see how the day went. few hours later we went through fairbanks, and stopped in north pole, had a quick dinner, noted that we were now 620 miles from home, and had only been out for 13 hours. we then drove through torrential rain, some sleet, light snow, very carefully traversed 30 miles of ice, and by 6:30 am we were in palmer, 1003 miles in 23 and a half hours.after a leisurely breakfast, i headed back to homer, got home around 2:30, my total miles 1260, elapsed time
29-1/2 hours. oil consumption was 12 ounces, adjusted chain once, sprayed some lube on chain at several fuel stops. XB ran great, now has 12800 miles on.

You lucky so and so. You might have got wet in the rain. Over he I'd be swimming if I rode that far LOL.

Sounds like you had a great ride out and I imagine pretty much a lot of wilderness. The problem with the UK is you're never more than 10 miles from a motorway or an industrial estate no matter how remote the immediate scenery! That's what's great about your Big Country - open country.

Chain lube on an XB?

I didn't know that there was that many gas stations in Alaska, I always figured they would be 200 miles apart. One of these next years I will have to make a trip up there with my XB.

I guess when your riding season is all of about four months long and you're blessed with 20+ hours of sunlight you've got to ride like that!

I can't wait till Aug. I'm doing a 1300 mile trip in 2 or 3 days. Florida to Wisconsin with my parents and then we're riding down to Deal's Gap to ride the roads there. All I gotta do is pass my summer classes. Which reminds me. I got a test tomorrow. Study time....

my riding style has shifted to a marathon mode because of a lack of available hours to ride. my business was evicted from its location of 8 years, so i had to move the whole operation into another shop space, while i had just a couple months ago purchased a commercial lot, and have been obtaining the zoning, building, and fire marshal permits, and coordinating the land clearing, excavation, and construction of a new building ( future site of Full Power Alternator and Starter Repair Service)I hope my new building will be ready to move (again) into in about 8 weeks. so in addition to working 6 days a week, i am also VP of our new motocross club the Homer Racing Lions. we have constructed a new motocross track, and are in process of trying to host a state race, along with our city race series. we have 6 races sheduled for the summer, all on saturdays. my son just got a new CRF250, and will be racing novice class. so anyway when i had a free saturday present itself, wife said "YOU JUST GO" so i dont want to waste any time sleeping on a weekend ride.
so here is the funny part, after a flawless 29 hour ride, i wheel into the garage, turn bike around, and drop it, snap off the left footpeg.
third time for that left peg. damnit.
