Installing a new set of Crossroad bars this Saturday and was wondering the difficulty of the installation and also if there is a torque setting that needs to be applied for the bolts that hold the bars to the frame. Thanks for your help

I just put my Crossroads on last night. Yes I would hightly suggest you lower the forks. It's really easy. What I did on my installation was tied the bike off by the rear wheel with ratchet straps, since I don't have a jack stand. And jacked up the front end with a scissor jack from my GF's car. All you do then is just disassemble the factory bars. Loosen the 3 fork clamp bolts (1 on top Triple Tree, 2 on lower triple tree) on each side of the bike, and the forks will drop. Then install the base plate, and then push the forks back up keeping your cables and wires between the fork tubes and the dash board of the bike. Be careful not to pinch them. The forks have a stop ring on them, so I just lowered the jack down until that ring bottomed out, and tightened the clamp bolts. There is a torque spec in the manual, but use common sense, get them tight but not too tight. Then install the bars and switch housings, clutch and brake and your good to go. Might want to get some new grips as well.

This is how we did it. I don't think you'll run into the problems we did. At least I hope you don't. But if you do, all the solutions should be here. Good luck. You'll like the bars.
