Well, first of all took bracket off without removing the three oil lines from the swingarm by cutting a slot with dremel in bracket.

Now, the bracket from Jardine that goes in it's place is a nightmare. I can't get it to fit anywhich way. The 'tab' in the middle of it interferes with the center oil line and just will not fit.

Anyone know what to do? Have I got it the right way (I tried in most ways!). Do I need to loosen the oil line and reposition the angle it exists the swingarm?

Help, please!

PS it's way too noisy, will have to get the quiet insert!

Hey Nick when I put on my Jardin I to had to wrestle with the bracket. But I didn't loosen any of the lines or remove the stock bracket, I just slid the jardin bracket between the engine and the stock muffler bracket. The oil lines are another matter maybe my lines came from the factory at a different angle, cause I didn't have to loosen any of them. I just modified the stock can and took my jardin off, I hope your stock bracket is ok still, cause in the future you may want to put the stock can back on.

Hmmm, even though I have a Jardine on the way, I am thinking I may want to save it for when I go full out Hooligan bike. I have a race muffler. I am thinking since it already has the holes for the chin fairing, not as loud as the Jardine (already lost my hearing), that it should fit right on, plus no problems with mounting the chin fairing.

Any thoughts guys?

Just modify the stock can, when finish your exhaust sounds really mean and it make a huge improvement in power, No flat spot like the Jardine.

I just got an extra stock can that I plan to do bad things to, just to see what happens. I have a K&N on the way(thanks dave) and will be gettin' a techlusion when funds allow.

I'm watching all the posts about the tech. box, cans, and airbox mods, just to gain knowledge of what others experience so I can combine the info to suit myself.

I've had no chin fairing issues, no oil line issues, and no flat spot in performance. Cyko, if you worry too much and look too hard, you may talk yourself out of something good. It seems ANY exhaust change will stir the pot here. If you have access to the race can and a Jardine, try them both! You'll figure out what works best for you. I'm tickled with what I've got. BadS1 tried the Drummer and is now running a D&D. There are a ton of people running the race can from Buell. There is no bad solution..experiment and have FUN!

Hey Tucson I have 10001 miles on my bike and about 2 months ago my clutch cable broke also, right at the lever. HMMMMMM interesting. Also if you cut the back off the stock can, and about 4 inches out of the last section of pipe before it exits and weld a patch over the middle hole, leaving the final chamber open, put the back of the pipe back on and weld her shut, replace the tip and paint with heat resistant paint. I'm swallowing my pride when I say it out performs the jardin hands down, I know. I am a huge jardin fan maybe the first in KC to have one or at least the first I knew of, also I put about 8000 miles on with my jardin. I modified my bro's pipe because he was broke and wanted better sound and luckily I stumbled upon something that is awesome, and also when you do it yourself it feels even better. Maybe thats why I think it kicks , or maybe because my bro smoked me on his bike with the can modified, when before I could carry the front tire past him in second. Also for anyone else reading this post I want to say don't gut everything out of your stock cans I wrecked one doing that performance sucked and you loose your jack point as well, but to his and his own.

the tab on the rear mount goes forward run all of the lines to the left of the bracket loosen the lines gently then push left after you get everything hanging then tighten the strap bolt crab hold of the can and give it a good tug to the right of the bike it straitens out the bracket and helps to pull it further from the mount hrmmm lemme go out and take a pic real quick for you guys to see brb....

alright here yah go first off a right hand side shot

now for a left hand side shot

and finally a rear shot

i have fully extended the rear swingarm to max travel as well as compressed it all of the way and it does not rub i know the picture doesnt show it because of the angle but you can get your finger in between the line and strap bracket
later

Hanses25, your the 4th person I've heard of, including myself, that have had clutch cable failures right at 10K miles. I wonder what we're doing wrong? I'm gonna pay more attention and make sure I lube it better every 2K miles or so. As far as exhaust mods, like I said, there are so many choices that you can't hardly go wrong. Modding my stock pipe wasn't really an option for me but you're not alone in what you've done. I think that's the best part of playing with our toys. Personalize them to how you see fit. There are no real wrong answers...except maybe this:

Ouch that is just wrong. I know when my clutch cable broke, I was just about to do a wheelie for some neighbors that instead of buying bikes bought furniture. when I was turning around I pulled in the clutch and snap right at the lever, I noticed that after I got it fixed my clutch pull was much easier than before it broke, so I think the cable was getting hung up on something or when I pulled it in the angle of the cable was wrong I don't know It sucked though, luckily it was at slow speeds and not farther away than right in front of my house.

Well Nick I just finished installing my Jardine and it looks and sounds awsome !!! There is or was no need to cut a chunk out of the old muffler bracket though, two of the lines had no oil in them and the third spilled verry little after I jammed my finger in the hole. I like to keep all stock parts for resale. I put the new muffler strapbetween the second and third line with a rubber gromet to ensure it wouldnt rub.

I may fiddle with the lines to get them routed nicely then, one of em made a scrape on my chromey pipe too! Nadgers! As for the bracket, It will go back on no problem, the bit I cut out is at the top, barely visible and won't affect fitting at all. I didn't want to remove the lines in case they leaked for ever more. Either way, I can get a new bracket should I feel the need, thanks for the info tho!

Hey Tucson how easy was it to mount the motocross bars on the XB? I've been thinking about trying to mount a set of pro-tapers on it. I have a extra set lying around since I've been a motocrosser in the past.

Piece of cake. The stock bars were too tall and raked for me. The new bars were wider, but I had enough cable length. The cool thing was the bars were about an inch wider giving me enough to mount CRG bar end mirrors without having to pay for adapters.

You have any up close pictures of the bars? I'd like to see how they look?
