Ok, I went and set my idle today to 1050 (or there about) and now it idles like a purring kitten. Went out and tested it and it went right back to that with no hanging.

Now, I want to know about the fan. I'm at 1790 miles now and was wondering if the fan will start to come on less and run less now? I've noticed that when it runs while I'm riding hard it will shut off one I start to cruise a bit. Also, it seems like it's not running as long now after I turn the bike off.

It will run less and less as the bike breaks in. I also notice that it seems to run less with either Mobil-1 or Castrol Syntec oil. The transmission shifts better than stock with Mobil-1 75/90 gear oil.

From the service manual:
The XB9R has a computer-controlled cooling fan to assist engine cooling during operation in high temperatures. Fan actuation is controlled by the ECM. See Table 4-35.Cooling Fan Specifications

Table 4-35. Cooling Fan Specifications
------------FAN ON-----------FAN OFF
Key ON----428°F(220°C)---356°F(180°C)
Key OFF---338°F(170°C)---302°F(150°C)

Synthetic fluids will make a difference as M1combat said.
Mike.

May be the weather is cooler now causing the fan to run less(?)

I've to agree with M1's comment on Mobil 1 75-90 gear oil. I now have no complain with Buell's shifting.
