I would like to buy a (programmable) race ECM for the XB12. I would like it to generally mimic the stock ecm in form and function, but have adjustable A/F ratio and ignition timing parameters. also rev limiter delay would be a nice option. if some one were to build a few of these i would sure like one of them. dean

I don't think the programmable ecm is for sale.

But a stock ecm with the techlusion box is basically the same? No? Or a pc3?

Why don't you get that?

Only one way I know of to go fully programable fuel and ignition, and thats with a Mega-Squirt N Spark setup, but have not seen anyone with both as of yet. I know one guy who runs Mega-Squirt on his cyclone with great results, something to think about.

But going that way, brings into view issues with engine lights, and gauge operations, etc........

Just something to chew on

You can always use other gauges or simply hack the harness to work with the megasquirt. The MSII is suppossed to me more compliant to add ons like the speed sensor for a speedo. It has its own engine codes and such already so uses its own check engine light.

However I do have to agree with FP, a user programable straight from the factory would be very nice. I mean seriously, I can run the Sportsman class without any kind of race liscence or even a run what you brung division and such. Club days or even just trackdays should be good enough justification. It should be up to me to decide about a true Race ECM and not one that works best with just Buell's race kit.

Wycked, I agree too. I'd love to have a fully programmable ECM as well. However, I think that Buell Mo. Co. will probably never release something like that to the general public because of all of the associated costs that go with any product release. (updating catalogs, support documentation, employee training, service manual releases, warranty and warranty repair, etc...) I just don't think that Buell could or would justify the cost for such a small market segment. The ROI isn't there for general public release. However, for the (pro) race teams it makes sense. Relatively free advertising and product development. Buell probably feels that the aftermarket will address the niche market if there's a large enough demand. Just my $.02.

yes the aftermarket will address the demand. that is why i am asking. repeatedly. techlusion is a patch job. pc3 is a bandaid. i want a ecm that does its job properly. with out an external helper box.

Actually from what I've read about other ECU's - it doesn't seem to make lots of sense to get the race unit if you're not racing.

If you can buy one for $600-ish and then pay another $250 for your map - that gives you an idea... but I'd warn you, it's not a very intuitive program to run. There is no supporting documentation except comment statements within the program itself.

Having messed with mine for 2 full days on the dyno and then on-track tweaking (there's LOTS that won't show up on the dyno) - I'd say you're in for a whole new hobby.

Tuning it is just like tuning 2 big aircooled singles. Each cylinder runs a different ignition and air/fuel map.
