I've owned an 03 XB9S for only a month. After riding less than 200 miles I ordered the Streetfighter seat. I found the stock slippery and after an hour it felt like I was sitting on a rock. Finally got the Streetfighter and the slipperyness is gone, but after an hour I still get the rock under my butt feeling. I've come to believe that the bars have me too upright. I've found forward lean helps greatly for both my lousy back and sore butt. For instance, before my neck, shoulders, arms and wrist caused me to give up sport bikes with low clip-ons, my back and rump were always far more comfortable. All that said, what are my options for a bar that is lower and with a bit more reach. If I can find an easy swap, I think I can enjoy the bike a lot more than one hour. Sidenote: My body is 70 years old and the damn warranty has long expired. Also if you're short legged be advised that the Streetfigher seat will seat you a good half inch higher. |

Shorty...look at the "Clip-ons for S" thread. There are several different options discussed there. |

Shorty, Bicycle shorts with the gel or padded crotch go a long way toward long-distance riding comfort. Charlieboy discovered this over TorqueFest last year and I agree after our trip to Springerville in July. Go get yourself a good pair of "Lance Armstrong" specials ... A decent pair can usually be had for around $40-50 (may seem pricey, but well worth it). |
