I am in the process of purchasing a Honda VFR 750 for touring jaunts. Interesting bike from a tech perspective; V4 engine with very linear torque, gear driven cams make it sound like a turbine.

Rear swing arm is out of this world, linked brakes are, well I don't know yet.

Seems like a Japanese Buell, what with all these neat little tech bits and all.

Boy, I love cycles!

I love the early year ones. Never heard anyone who has one bitch about it, I think Ferris owns one.

My Polaris 4wheelers have linked brakes and they work great. I'm sure it will be different on the road but I'm happy with their performance. Keeps my kids safer.

1996. The press and discussions on these bikes are very very positive. Some folks hate the brakes (I didn't sense much difference in test rides) and the VTEC models have some folks unhappy.

Anyway, it seems like such a finely balance bike, that does just about everything well.

And, it is certainly no match for the rockets of today. But for all day cruising at 75, it seems like the tix!

I have one, absolutely sweet bikes, mine is a bit older, 1990 model, but they are a bit "soul" less, they do everything so well, that the bike starts to feel a bit bland, here is a pic of mine...VFR750F

Very good choice for a touring bike. The VFR has always been on my list of motorcycles to own, it just hasn't had it's turn at the top of my list yet.

Be sure to at least put a slip-on on that bike. The sound of that v-four is magnificent.

Now if you could get the matched pistons firing together (like, supposedly, you can with the Duc V-4) so it behaves like a V-twin, that'd be *really* sweet.

First ride was a 99 VFR ...absolutly loved everything about it linked brakes and all ...

I had one of the early models, 84 700 Interceptor. Very reliable bike and quick too. I read somewhere (one of the motorcycle publications) that the knew VFR's are very under rated and aren't selling well. However they are consistantly rated as one of the best all-round motorcycles.

I think they threw that one out the window--couldn't make enough power, so the desmosedici (?) V4 Duc is sequential firing.
