I just filled the XB9S (with race kit and 12 airbox); 56 MPG in mostly city and local road riding.

Is that amazing or what?

BTW- I have never gotten less that 51 no matter how hard I have ridden this puppy!

Is the government listening? Why would they not do everything possible to encourage us to ride these bikes instead of Escalades to work??????

Aye Carumba!

Wow, didn't think 320cc would make that much of a difference -- I'm averaging 41 on my 12S.

I average about 50-55...50 city with 55-60 on the freeway if I keep it under 90. (before anyone says anything about 90...that can and often is the rate of speed with traffic.)

Wycked- if any one says anything about riding an XB 90mph, screw em, you are worried about the wrong thing.

Personally I would be more worried what people would say if I told em I didn't take it over 90.

Ummmmm maybe a little closer to 220cc.

It's the old saying, horsepower = fuel + air. more power, more fuel.

Yup, you're right -- don't know what I was thinking... Was confusing it with that stupid 883 thing...

How many miles are you getting before the low fuel light comes on for the 9S's?

I'm going 133 miles on my 9R when the light comes on and I am averaging 49 MPG WITH the race kit and 12 airbox!

My MPG has improved since I added the race kit up approximately 4 MPG!?

I mostly drive freeways @ an average speed (so sayeth my GPS) of 82 MPH.

I love this bike!

12R requires gas at 130 (+-5) miles. Mixed riding and on the gas a lot. Takes about 2.7 gallons to fill it up when the light comes on. Mostly 47-50 MPG. Good MPG results might be due to riding from 6000-8500 feet altitude. But the penalty is an 18% (3%/1000') reduction in HP. Bummer.

BTW: New to the board. Been riding for 25 years. Other bikes: Honda 919, Honda CRF450R. Like the XB12R (1000mi so far). Really a different and cool bike. Just wish I had the power you guys at low altitude have.
