I have the service manual so i can follow the instructions on there. The Thing is What Oil are you guys useing? Im just about to my 5k mile mark so i think im going to go synthetic and im probally going to change the tranny oil also.
What oil do you guys recomend for eng and tranny?
Any special techniques to help me out for my first oil change.

Follow the procedure in TFM using a new filter.

Personal flavor for me is Mobil 1 V-Twin formula (15-50w), w/Mobil 1 gear lube in the tranny (75-90w).

is the mobil v-twin synth? Also i was looking though the manual and it doesnt say where the fill spot is for the tranny. it shows the drain plug but doesnt show how i fill it back up.
also how many quarts of each are needed?

Yes, Mobil 1 is Synthetic. You fill the tranny from the clutch inspection cover. You will need this off to verify the level anyway. BTW, you should be checking/adjusting your primary chain at this time as well (refer to TFM). My primary takes exactly one quart if drained completely. Follow the procedure in TFM for the engine oil and do not overfill.

Just adjusted the primary and changed out the Valvoline syn. syrup for Mobil 1 syn.in the tranny.I will give it a try this time.ILH/chicks,use the Buell bible that you have.I also went to a Wallyworld and picked up a tupperware jug that has quarts/liters on in.Put a magic marker line on engine capacity on it.Then just fill to the line and pour it in with a funnel(of course)It takes the guess work out of it.

where did you buy your mobil 1? i checked 2 cycle shops and walmart no one had it.
