I had mentioned on a previous post that I will give an update on the HSA rear (S) fender eliminator. Well, here it is - for those interested in getting one.

Observations - first of all the packaging wasn't that great and after looking at the box I expected the worst. Opened it up however and everything was there and in one piece.

The overall fit is very good - the rear piece - in molded fiberglass/resin fits very snugly to the rear section and bolts on very easily. As for the finish, well, I'd recommend getting a pre-painted one unless you have the patience to wait until the paint dries to install it (difficult when you've been waiting months to clean the lines on the 12S...!) I used a 600 wt wet paper and applied 2 coats of auto quality paint to it (black) and let it dry and harden prior to installation. Again the fit is very good, finish is 95% there - no real need for sanding, just a few coats of paint (a bit disappointing for a 300 euro piece but hey - at least it creates the bond with the bike by spending time on it - and not just dough.)

Installation was very easy and the wiring is even easier - the rear has 3 plugs - use the license wiring as the "lights on" and the red&orange for the brake light. The license plate bracket needs a bit of bending - so do the fit prior to painting so as to avoid messing up the paint, and it bolts onto the rear end using the original bolts & mounts.

Final product - well the 12S is looking great now - no more cheese grater (even if my wife preferred it - go figure) The bike looks short - but not stubby - kind of like a hornet and I can't wait to take it for a ride.

The LED lights are very nice as well and plenty powerful on "on" as well as with the brake on. the license plate is LED as well however I added some silicon epoxy to completely seal the gap to assure no water gets into the compartment. There is a very slight space where the seat meets the tail end as well and I will as an insulator stripping or something of this nature in the event humidity finds its way in there although I don't expect this to be a problem.

Finally it looks just fine with the stock "blinkers" as well so no need to do all at once.

Overall I would "rate" the product a buy - the fit is good, finish OK out of the box but good with a couple of coats of paint, and the final product once on the bike is great!

btw - will get pics once I get them downloaded.

even with the "cheese grater" I had the brown zebra stripe up the back. Plus, it keeps tailgaters just a little further back! ; )

My XBR doesn't give me the brown racing stripe.

The green is nice though. I have a clear tail light lens, Buellicious, what is yours?

That is where I got the clear one and a red LED bulb, final illumination is pink. At least it is different. I am assuming you have the red LED as the bulb. What color is your plate now?

Saw a price on how much the stock replacement lens costs. I believe Bubba quoted it at $1.32
