I was just wondering what your thoughts were on changing oil after your bike has sat all winter long? I put Amsoil in my bike this fall and only rode it about 800 miles before parking it for the winter. Do I NEED to change my oil this spring before I do much riding?

Some folks prescibe to the notion that you should change it becuase it "may have" absorbed some moisture during the course of sitting. Personally I think so long as you let it warm up properly before taking off, the moisture is going to be burned off anyways & it wont be a problem.

I think that change the oil before & after storage deal was invented by the oil companies: D

I agree w/Dyna (scary huh ) Go ahead and ride it when it gets warm. As soon as you ride it awhile at temp, any moisture that MAY have accumluted is going to burn off. And besides, you'd get that same moisture if you had "new" oil in there wouldn't ya?

800 miles on the oil? I'll bet it still looks new.

Just fuggetta bout-it

oh yeah liquid wet dream. i just drained the amsoil 0W-30 out of my race car today, after 4 hours of practice laps. it has been in there for 3 years. oops. no ice last year, so we did not race. starting out the season fresh. new steel wheels, and 3 quarts of clean amsoil. its gonna be a great year.
