Brian: I am anxiously awaiting the box on my front porch containing your Drummer, ECM and K&N filter. Plan A: 1. Reinstall the pipe 2. Test the pipe with the stock ECM, just to see if it runs 3. Replace the stock ECM with Race ECM to see what happens 4. If it runs decent enough, take it to the Buell dealer to have them reset the TPS (Run it at 3000-3500RPM for 3-5 minutes to let the ECM figure out what is going on, correct?) When should I put in the K&N? (I put numerous – anywhere they would fit- 2 inch diameter holes in my air box) Plan B: If all else fails, and it doesn’t run decent enough to limp into the Buell dealer with either ECM, trailer the XB9 to the Buell dealer. Am I missing anything here? Thanks for holding my hand through this process, Keith (Still going through withdrawal and forced to ride the S2 Beast)

Hey, have you guys tried the larger diameter xb12 headers and your pipe on a kitted 9? More flow more go right? |

More flow more go right? From what I understand you've got to have more to flow to get the more go... In other words, If the engine isn't putting out more than stock, than the 12 pipe will hurt things rather than help. |

keith your on the right track. Man those are some big holes in that box. I did small 3/8th holes only because my testing showed the big holes created a lil loss. I went thru 3 box covers to get there. Then I tested the bike with the 12 air box cover and it works just a hair better than the 9 cover with holes in it and it was less loud. Good thing the air box covers are only $30 bucks or so. also put the k&n filter in at the same time you put the pipe on it has much better air flow than the stock filter. plus it will run with the stock ecm but you won't notice all the gains you will with the race ecm and there is a dip in power down low with the stock ecm with the pipe. as far as the 12 headers on the 9....bigger ain't always better its all about velocity. |

$30 for an XB12 air box? And it's better than drilling holes? Is this right?

Soo, am I hearing that doing the swiss cheese thing to the XB12R airbox on an XB12 will have no improvement? |

don't know I haven't done it. It might ...try it and let us know. the venturi works great so maybe a lil more air will work great to. I just got sick of the noise emmiting from the holed airbox and the 12 box did just a hair better than the holes on the nine.... I am really getting old ...I am getting sick of random worthless noise |

OK I am slow, but my mind is fried from midterms. I have a xb9r. So buy a xb12r airbox cover and drill hundreds of little holes in it...right? Or is it drill my stock cover or buy a xb12 cover and leave it alone? If its the second one, why not drill it? |

See what an education can do to you? Buy the 12 air box and do not drill, I just ordered mine today. Trust in Bubba. |

Bubba: Yeah, sure, last toy. Sort of looks Italian, maybe Austrian, Swis or German, same neck of the woods. I’m disappointed in you. I hope you don’t have to order parts for that thing. Oh yeah I forgot, they never break. Couldn't tell if it was chain or shaft, I hope it is a chain. On the one exhaust near your bag, does it double as a Bar-BQ? My sister owns a Bar-B-Q in Kansas City, I could probably hook you up with some sauce. edited by kaese on November 13, 2003 edited by kaese on November 13, 2003 |

I am not saying don't drill the 12 airbox. I just haven't done it myself to test it and I probably am not gonna do it. I hated the noise coming from it. Get the 12 airbox it works well and quiet. kaese Its a triumph so it be british . it is chain and its a pretty damn fun bike. The starngest thing is when I have ridden it for days , then jump back on my xb I gotta get the hang of the xb again thru the first few corners. and visa versa. but the triumph is my daily comuter as I hate cages. Plus I can go to the grocery store on that thing and take any dang dirt or gravel road I want. It is great to have 2 bikes that are totally different in there purpose. |

I see my bike in those photos. Glad to see she's being kept warm. Looks like she's not too lonely either. I'll be down to pick her up soon enough. |

Hey Brian How much beer will that Trumpit hold (don't wanna have to make to many runs to the grocery store) its getting cold. You remember I cut the big holes in the 12 box and it didn't help power wise, just noise..........Later Charlie PS Love that pipe man |

Just messing with you Brian. I have a friend that got a Sprint ST. I rode it, very smooth and appears to be a sound bike. Had the chain though. His back started to bother him and he sold it after 1500 miles. Then he rented a Road King, and purchased one. He is a happy camper now. Did Dean in Alaska get his pipe shipped other than regular? I was getting my hopes up when I arrived home. |
