I think I read a tip about this a while ago on here but I decided to check my kickstand bolt the other day when I randomly thought of it. And it was darn near falling out. That could've really sucked... So remember to check yours! |

Does this affect all years, or was it the earlier XB's that had the issue. Mine is a 2007. Would hate to see her topple! |

Mine's an 06 - so I think yours is the same. Not a big deal to check - just a wrench or socket will tighten 'er up if she's loose! |

I don't know if my kickstand is the upgrade style or not because I bought it off ebay. It was for the low model. Well the bolt broke and the pin was working its way out. I just removed the bolt and put the pin back in. Its working fine without the bolt. |

Loctite is a cheap investment. |

If the bolts that hold the kikstand to the engine are coming loose, tightening them is not the fix. They will come loose again. |

I disagree. Problem: loose bolt. Fix: tighten it. Just like - Problem: dirty oil. Fix: change oil. Just because a fix doesn't last until the end of time doesn't make it not a fix. I do agree loctite is a good idea to hopefully have it not come loose again or at least not as frequently. Is there a better fix? I'm sure there are lots. Weld it on there? Replace with something different? Wrench and loctite work for me. (Message edited by snowhownd on May 05, 2011) |

thread locker works great, you can get a small tube of it at any auto parts store and medium strength should be enough to hold it in case you have to remove it later on. |

I cheecked mine at the end of the season last year, and it was broken off at the threads. I drilled out the 5/16 thread, and re-tapped it for 3/8-16. I also made a new bolt out of 4130 p.h.. It won't fail. Now the mount or the kickstand will fail first. |
