I was just wondering if an XB9R could be made into a 12R? The frame's the same so couldn't you swap in a 12R engine, the 1.75 headers, 49mm injector, exhaust and computer? It would probably be hella pricey (especially compared to 1200cc kit) but could it be done? I'm not asking because I want to do it, just want to know if it's possible out of meer curiosity. Just something for 9R owners and soon to be owners (like me)to ponder.

What is the point off buying a 12 engine, if the only difference is the crankshaft ??
I think your better off if you put some big bore cylinders on, to gather with some nice ported nallin heads, maybe get the new xb12 intake manifold & throttle housing ( I think it’s cheaper than a throttle bore , but I’m not sure )
And you will have a freaking unbelievable xb12 that will run around a official xb12 any time.

Yeah, another possibility is to not even bore it, just stroke it. I'm just throwing around ideas. It was a short work day today so I had wayyyy too much time on my hands and the brain gets carried away.

The closer I get to XB9R day, the goofier I get

I've been thinking about this very question. Buy a used XB9 from someone that doesn't understand them, and have it Nallinized.

XB14 with a Force pipe and Power Commander.

There's more that goes into the upgrade to a 12 than just upping the CCs with stroke if you want the bike to do it right and match up to the stock 12. That said, if money's not a problem, you could swap an engine/trans combo. Upgrade to the new belt. T-body and exhaust would have to be upgraded. If you wanted your tach to show proper yellow and red zones, that would have to go and you know they don't give away those guage clusters. Exhaust valve controller would need to be installed if using the stocker muffler. I assume the ECM comes with the motor package.

Would be pricy as hell!

If it's a 2004 XB9 it already has the belt just need the proper pulley. Valve controller is unnecessary, it's to meet smog but still provide power. Just use the race pipe, it doesn't have the valve. Using the XB9 gages is not a problem as long as they read true and you have the 6800 (or is it 7K?) rev limiter.
Bigger T-body and headers would be must I reckon. And most likely the computer to control it but I'm clueless when it comes to computers & injectors. It would definitely be one of those "save your money for a couple years" kind of project.
Eeek! I gotta stop thinking about this before it fries my little head.
