I was just wondering how many people re -adjust there suspension when riding 2up. Not racing, but just going to dinner or out for a quick trip.
Wife wonted to go to the movies and ride on the XB, so I said great. Give me a second to readjust the suspension. OOOOO boy, that did not go over well at all. I told her its sports suspension and weight sensative. OOOO,should just keep my mouth shut at this point. Any way would it ride that much different if I just kept it set for my weight. Or should I sneek out and adjust it before we ride. She is not fat by any means.

I run my suspension on the stiff side. I only change the settings for two up riding if it will be longer distances.

I hate riding 2up without adjusting the suspension. There is too much frontend dive during breaking. The bike also wallows through the corners. It is a safety thing to me. Tell her that the the suspension needs to be changed for safety's sake. The new ride will also be less taxing on her and your bodies. It only takes 5 minutes to do it, so I don't see why not.

I ride a 12R so your experiences might be different.

First time I rode 2up I didn't adjust and that was a mistake. Handled like ass and the back end felt like a marshmallow. For short rides all you have to do is crank up the pre-load in the rear to the last click. If you have the American Sport Bike seat pins it takes less than a minute to do.

Long rides I turn the comp. and rebound up a half a turn. I use to adjust the front but it feels like at least 90% of the weight of the passenger is on the back wheel and I wasn't getting enough sag in the front when I matched to the pre-load in the back.

I run mine setting much tighter ( err something .. got a chart off a thread here .. stock is way to soft for my taste ) my normal setting is much closer to the 2up setting anyhow ..but I just notch up the preload a bit .. I change between 2up and 1up too often to be changing all the settings every time.

I never bother changing my suspension when I ride 2up (which I do regularly), its no big deal and not a safety issue for me. If you’re riding so fast 2up that you need to adjust your suspension then that is a safety issue and you should slow down. People shouldn’t be riding at racetrack speed 2up anyways.

That said the downside to not adjusting my suspension for 2up is I come dangerously close to hitting my turbo on speed bumps, just gotta be extra careful.
