Generally speaking is newer better when it comes to Buells or are some years better then others as far as dependability ? I know there are a lot of upgrades in the 08 & up range but are they the best to buy ? Appreciate any help or advice. Im torn between the tubers & the late models.

I like my 05 XBR. It does not have the larger bearings in the engine and such, but I regularly get 49-51 mpg with it. I ride average to somewhat aggressive. The newer ones can't seem to touch those numbers (unless your name is/or you ride like, Froggy).

It depends on your price range. If you are looking to spend $5000 or less get an '07.

That's easy, get a 2005. It's the last year with a hole in the frame which enables a turbo install.

Depends which color you want. To me the newer ones look cooler. 07 and earlier get better gas mileage but you need some kind of software to reset the tps or bring it to the dealer. The 08s and newer have a more modern robust engine but get worse gas mileage and you don't need anything to reset the tps, I also don't think it is required every 10k. To me it's a toss up between the 2. I'd say at least get an 06 or newer that way you get the updated trans and the bronze oil pump drive gear.

I thought I seen something that said the 04's had the least issues as far as warranty/repairs were concerned or something like that.

But I could have also seen that in 04. lol

It's way more simple than that... The one that you can get your hands on the soonest.

Don't be afraid to jump on an '06 that has been well cared for and is completely stock(unless the PO knew what he was doing). Mine has been rock solid for going on 14,000 miles. The TPS reset thing is not a problem with ECMSPY and I only needed that once. If you live near me I've been known to work for beer to help a fellow rider out. Won't sell you mine cause my wife refers to it as the "other woman" and she's right on (and you wouldn't be able to afford it anyway).

my friend got a new o9 SS for $6000 out the door. crazy! If I were you I would go for an 09 I think they are the best. The 10's although beautifull and exactly like the 09 but they have an extra o2 sensor that looks a little odd. The blinkers are diff but thats changable.

The biggest improvement the 2010's have is the improved 3-bearing rear wheel with external seals.

03-04s are the best. The least problems too.
Earlier XBs also had the good looking swingarms, not the "toy like", cheaper
ones with the hideous looking oil filler cap of the later ones.

Be sure to get the one I like best with, of course, all of my recommended mods so you can be just like me, not those guys above...In all seriousness, they are all great bikes with their own individual characteristics regardless of the year. Ride a couple and find what fits you best, you'll find parts if necessary (especially if you stick with this forum).
