I have always wanted an LED taillight on my bike. Not only do I like the look, but I consider them safer. I was jealous when the Uly came out with one, but the XBs did not. Anyway, I was happy to see the 2010 bikes have an LED taillight now, so I went ahead and ordered one up.

Wiring is simple to swap to spades as mentioned in other posts. The taillight backing does come bonded to a clear lens for 2010, which I don't like. I think the red lens looks a lot better, so I carefully separated the clear lens from the LED backing plate.

Next, I matched the old red lends to the new backing plate, only to find they are an ever so slightly different size and shape. Fortunately the screw holes line up, and there is enough plastic touching on the backing plate and red lens to bond them together, which I did.

Before the glue set, I screwed the new taillight assembly in to the subframe to hold the two plastic pieces together while they bonded. After the glue was cured, I took the light assembly off and resealed the bonded area by applying a thin layer of glue all around the seam.

Lastly, I reinstalled, plugged in in, and voila! LEDs are plenty bright with the red lens (which was my worry) and are definitely brighter than the stock incandescent bulb.

The finished product is probably short of the overall intensity offered by XB Lights, but it is still plenty bright and an improvement in looks and visibility.

Here are a few pics from my phone:

Here you can see the light leak from the gap created by using the new LED assembly.

Does anybody have the P/N# for the XBr led taillight?
