A few days back I was showing off my new 09 XB12scg to my mate who used to ride one like mine and when I asked him about the best aftermarket exhaust thats reasonably priced. Spec ops sound good and they're only 150 quid but I don't know about the availability of a Spec Ops in England, same goes for those Hawk exhausts which are only 90 quid. But my bud said that if I clamp or wire open the interactive valve in my stock exhaust that I'll get more torque, and it would be much louder than if it were close. So I rode with it open for a few days and noticed it was torque-ish but past 3k rpms or higher its like I have to twist the throttle back alot more than usual to get it going when she's in 3rd or 4th gear. Is this bad for the engine? Im not riding it tho since its been raining so bad so I rode my RSV4, haven't been rain riding any lately since 1,800 bloody bridges are being inspected since a few have already collapsed so I'd rather lose my RSV4 if a bridge collapses while I'm on it instead of my XB12scg. All suggestions/opinions/advice are all welcome. Thanks much!! Cheers! Phil. |

I'd say keeping an open exhaust valve would make it run leaner than usual. As for availability of American made exhaust to Britain? I have no clue, I'm assuming there wouldnt be a problem with getting one it would just be outrageous for shipping. If I were you I would stick with European market exhausts, like a Termignoni or GPA. |

This picture shows the effect of the valve position on power. http://thekneeslider.com/images/hddynamicexhaust7. jpg Read all about it here http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/11/21/harle y-davidson-dynamic-exhaust-system-patent/ or here http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7347045.pdf |

So running it with an open valve will just kill its midrange torque? It feels like its starved for petrol in the midranges so I have to crank on the throttle to get it to go. So is it possible to obtain Spec O.P.S pipes in the UK? What about Hawks? Jardines are available but Jardines are way too common place. I'd rather have something unique, one-of-a-kind. Not something mass produced. Again, Thanks! Steve P. G. Mctavish |

I ship pipes to Europe quite often. Obviously you would need to purchase one outright or find one on ebay and have it shipped directly to me then I'll ship to you. |

Yep. The valve alters the flow to optimize power throughout the rev range. Odie, who makes the special ops pipe would can ship to you like he just stated. Also check http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/ as they are based in England and have some other exhausts you might have not considered yet. |
