Hey all,
My bike has been sitting for a while so to clean out the fuel system i bought gumout's version of fuel system cleaner and dumped the whole bottle in. Is it possible that this is causing the noise? Will it go away when i burn through this gas? what should i do?
thanks

Mine makes a knocking sound like that, I sometimes wonder if its a bent pushrod but it tends to do it only after its warmed up. Thats what I think it may be but I'm not a mechanic so I'm more than likely incorrect.

Last winter I had the same thing after mine sat up for a while (2004 XB12R) I left a post on here, and some helpful soul told me to let it run for a while and it will go away. It's was from sitting up for so long. I let it idol for a while and it finally cleared up. Don't know if it's the same sound you are talking about or not, but mine did finally clear up.

The whole bottle is normally made for 10 to 20 gallons, you put in 2.5 to 5 times the amount. It is very likely running extremely lean from the high percentage of cleaner. Siphon half the fuel into a can and fill with good high test fuel, or siphon most of the tank and fill with high test fuel and see what happens.

If you can't siphon it, just ride it EASY for a bit.
Top it off, and ride EASY some more, top it off and repeat for a few tanks.

I'd try to run it down about half way, then top off each time.

Just make sure no heavy throttle until most of the cleaner is out of the system.

How big a bottle did you pour in?

Bike will automatically try adjusting for fueling problem by altering its Air Fuel Value (AFV).
After fuel supply is 'good', bike may continue run poorly until given time & conditions to re-adjust AFV.
