I am looking at a 2009 red XB12SCG, the bike and color I want however, it has
650 miles on it. It was the dealership driver. They are asking $6499 and will handle
and pay the shipping from east coast to west coast. I will pay my sales tax when I get it.
The pictures look like the bike is clean but I know it is 350 miles from first service
and I don't know how much that will cost.

The bikes I have been able to find now are $7250 on up plus shipping and my tax.
It seems the dealers that still have the bikes still have them because their prices are high.

The bike would cost me $7026 (with my state tax) OTD as opposed to the same bike with 25 miles
on it at my local dealership for $7834 but I can see it and it won't need service for a while.
Should I be concerned about the miles? How much does first service cost? Should I worry about damage in shipping?

are you shipping that to california? If so, you might have a hard time registering it.

not CA. I didn't even contact any of the CA dealers because of their required air
mods. (I can't think of the right words - ARRGG)

Just got off the phone with the dealer and now he tells me that the warranty runs out March 27, 2010 because even though it IS a 2009 bike, the dealership got it in 2008 and the warranty began when they got it.
So is this still a good deal at $6499 $7026 (my taxes inc)with 650 miles? compared to a new bike full warranty for $7834 otd (my taxes inc.)So is the $800 worth an out of state dealer and only 3 months of warranty?

I could be wrong but that warranty stuff does not sound right. I thought the warranty was two years from date of purchase, not when the dealer took delivery.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in.

Is it me or are dealer prices slowly going back up as dealer inventory is nearly gone.

It probably is correct. I would see if you can get them to throw in at least a 1 year extended warranty just to keep you covered.

As far as the warranty, I was told it was a company owned bike so even though it has never been titled, they use the bike for demos ect and the warranty began when they got it in march of 08.

As far as the prices going up, they seem to be. I have contacted every Buell dealer I can find and the ones that have the bike and color I want seem to be raising their prices. : ( I even have had some dealers tell me they don't have it but will take a deposit in hopes they can still get one from Buell and then ask full price for the bike.

Hes giving you a line of bull crap. If the bike has never been titled, the warranty doesn't start till the bike is titled. So that begins when you take delivery of the unit. I have done this before. That is the way it goes.

Personally I would pay the extra 800. Not as much for the warranty but for the piece of mind I would have of putting my bike through the break in period myself. I would image if the bike has been used as a demo it has not been exactly treated as it should during that period.

Either way it's still a hell of a deal. I bought my xb12ss in July at nearly full price and am just thrilled I am able to own such an awesome bike!

Well I've bought 2 bikes as demo's. Hell one was my wifes first bike... a Blast. It was even worse then a demo. It was a Riders Edge bike and it was a 1 1/2 yr old bike. I got the full warranty. The other also had 300 some miles and it was 2 years old. I got the full warranty. Thats crap... they aren't like that here in wisconsin.

The new 2007's I have been looking at still have 2 year warranties due to being untitled?
With shipping it seems to be a good price, in my opinion.

The dealer has/had some financial advantage of buying out the bike...warranty started at buyout...yeah it sounds crazy...but it's true.

Some dealers "sold" bikes to employees for a similar reason...

So Fast1075, what would you pay for this bike given the 650 miles and 3 months of warranty?

I would ask them to up the warranty and hold the cost line...if not...buy the new one locally.

My thoughts too, anyone taking a bike for a demo ride is not going to think it's new take it easy.
I almost bought an 08 Uly that the dealer had as a demo, first they told me it came with 2 year warranty, then only the remainder since it was first registered. I paid $350 more for my 08 but registered as an 09 with the full 2 years warranty and first service free.

If I pass on this deal, it takes me back to where I started paying the local dealer
$1875 in BS fees. : ( I am not ready to give up yet.

If I am not mistaken, I am almost positive that the warranty does not begin until the bike is actually titled. That is, even if it was a dealer demo whenever they do sell it it should have the full warranty. Any way to run a Carfax report on it to see if they aren't being honest? Maybe it was titled to the service manager or something for awhile. Just a thought.

I'd beat them up on the warranty deal. You already have the price you want, now beat them for the warranty. They can do it if they really want to sell the bike. If not, walk away. If they think they have a sale they won't budge, but if you are nonchalant and act like you're doing them a favor buying it they will most likely cave.

P.S...I was at one of the local dealers here and they had the bike you are looking for (all red). For some reason it strikes me that the price was $6,995 and I don't believe it was ridden at all. Here's the link: http://www.whitesharley.com/

Hey Black51, when did you see the red bike at Whites? According to their site, they don't have any Buells in stock.
