Is there a trick to getting the velocity stack back on the throttle body?

Getting the spring clip over the throttle body lip is a huge PITA. I'm about to scrap it and use zip ties.

YEah a pair of channel Lock pliers = LArge pliers works easy...

I tried channel locks and vise grips, even used zip ties on the prongs to hold it ALL the way open. Still won't fit over the lip. It must be bent out of round.

It rotates in my pliers at perfectly wrong time.
Lube intake and vinyl air-horn, but beware: EVERYTHING else gets slippery, too.

I disassembled the bike to rotate the engine for service...removed the rear head...retapped the spark plug threads...re-assembled the rear head...re-mounted the motor...attached all the wiring and sensors...everything went perfectly...it started on the first try...the hardest part of the whole job was that damn spring clip on the velocity stack so I tossed it and used zip ties.

I use bent needle noise pliers.

Try pliers and some soapy water on the stack-it SHOULD slide right over.

Wish I could. Had a great time last year. But with a new baby it's hard to get away for a long ride, nevermind an overnight.

btw, the Buell is back to 100%.

I have a pair of SK slip joint hose clamp pliars with groves cut in both the side and front. No slipping and they work great.
